I’ve had moments when someone I love was clearly struggling, and I didn’t know what to say or how to help. It can feel overwhelming when you want to reach out but worry about saying the wrong thing.

☀️ What does SPF really mean?

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. It measures how well a sunscreen protects your skin from UVB rays—the kind that cause sunburn and contribute to skin cancer.

For example, if your skin would normally burn after 10 minutes in the sun, SPF 30 theoretically allows you to stay out 30 times longer (300 minutes) without burning—if applied properly.

🔆 So, what’s high enough?

Dermatologists recommend using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 for daily use. SPF 50 offers even better protection, especially for fair or sensitive skin or prolonged outdoor activity.

🧴 Sunscreen helps prevent premature aging, sunburns, and most importantly, lowers your risk of skin cancer.
