🎉 I passed my Child & Adolescent Psychiatry boards!!
I’m now double board-certified and honestly… just so grateful.

Life did NOT slow down while I studied — work, mom life, business, everything kept coming. But with support (and a lot of coffee), I made it through.

Accommodations aren’t retroactive. If your student struggles with anxiety, ADHD, or other conditions, the time to request academic accommodations is now—not during finals week.
✔️ Ask for your provider’s letter in July or early August
✔️ Submit documentation before the flood of requests hits
✔️ Know: Your university’s disability office may take weeks to process

📌 Pro tip: Accommodations start when the letter goes out—not before!

I recently spoke to about why this happens, what it means emotionally, and what to do if you’ve been ghosted—or feel tempted to ghost someone yourself.

It’s often not about cruelty. It’s about emotional overwhelm. Saying goodbye, facing conflict, or owning up to regrets can feel too big—so some people shut down and disappear.

But for the person being ghosted? That silence hits hard. It can trigger self-doubt, anxiety, even feelings of abandonment.

I’m excited to share that our collaborative paper, “Parental Involvement in College Mental Health Care: Clinical and Ethical Considerations,” is now out in Focus, the APA’s journal for psychiatry educators and clinicians.

This was a true team effort with my colleagues from the NNDC College Mental Health Task Force - . Together, we explored an important—and sometimes tricky—topic: When and how should parents be involved in a college student’s mental health care?

We looked at clinical cases, ethical frameworks, and practical tools for navigating this terrain. If you work with college students or love one, we hope this gives you something meaningful to consider. 💬
