December 3rd • Shout out to all of those out there with visible and invisible disabilities. To those who struggle in private and in public. To those who plainly see the lack of equality in so many parts of our world on a daily basis- the parts that others would have never thought about otherwise.

Here’s to hoping and fighting for a future where inclusivity and equality isn’t seen as a chore, but as a gift.

What has been a positive surprise in your life lately? ✨ I’ll go first- I was actually joyfully surprised to find a great podcast episode this week that I’ve been loving so far.

It is podcast “Unlocking Us”, where she discusses burnout with Emily and Amelia Nagoski as well as how to complete the stress cycle. Super interesting for anyone who wants to learn more about how our emotions are stored in our body. 😯

Boundaries are hard in any situation, but they can be especially challenging when we encounter a manipulative person.

Shame, guilt, and blame are all tactics a manipulator will use to get their desired outcome.

One phrase my clients like to use when trying to identify a manipulative person is, “does it seem to matter more to them more than it should?” If the answer is yes, then you may be able to pause and realize that this person you’ve encountered is trying to manipulate you into something.

If everything is falling apart, focus on finding sturdy ground to stand on. 💙

We can decrease our anxious thoughts by paying more attention to what IS working. What’s going right in your life right now? What are you good at? What can you count on everyday?

When I’m having anxiety provoking days, I can always count on being in control of taking my makeup off, winding down, and just being done for the day. I feel like I get bonus points if I have time to sit with a blanket and watch a good movie. ✨

Be confident in your boundaries. ✨ When you learn to grow in your self esteem, you start to realize that you can be firm in your decisions for how you live {your} life without worrying about being judged.🪞

Sometimes we spend more time people pleasing then setting boundaries with people, and we end up so exhausted and miserable because we still didn’t get to set the boundary we were aiming for. 😩

Don’t worry if this is you. We all have that person in our lives who pushes boundaries. I encourage you to be confident in your choices for your life. A HUGE part of the growth that can happen in therapy comes from being proud and confident in who you are, and respecting the boundaries you believe in!

What is a boundary you can work on this week? For me- I’ve GOT to get back to winding down before bed. If I don’t have some wind down / self care time before bed I feel rushed and panicky trying to get as much sleep as possible. 💤
