May I know myself forgiven for all the harm I may have thought and done, May I accomplish this profound practice of peace, and die a good and peaceful death, And through the triumph of my death, may I be able to benefit all other beings, living or dead.

We join with so many across Arlington and beyond in mourning the passing of our beloved Mrs. Kitty Clark Stevenson. It has been our distinct honor to serve the family of a woman whose life was a radiant example of service, courage, and compassion.

Mrs. Stevenson was more than a pioneer, she was a force for equity, a voice for justice, and a light in our community. Her father made history as the first paid African American firefighter at Fire Station 8, and she carried forward that legacy by becoming Arlington’s first full-time Equal Employment Opportunity Officer. Through her work with ABLE'N Consulting Services and countless civic efforts, she remained deeply committed to making space for every voice to be heard.

We are especially grateful for her powerful contribution to the PBS The Legacy Series: Living a Legacy, where her story and vision helped preserve and uplift the rich history of our community and Chinn Baker Funeral Service. Her voice and presence brought truth and grace to the screen.

Mrs. Kitty Clark Stevenson’s life was a testament to what it means to serve others with dignity and purpose. We remember her not only with sorrow at her passing, but with deep gratitude for the immeasurable gifts she shared.

May her legacy live on in the lives she touched and the future she helped shape.

With deepest sympathy,
Chinn Baker Funeral Service

Today, we pause to honor Juneteenth. A day of reflection, remembrance, and hope. On June 19, 1865, freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

At Chinn-Baker Funeral Service, we honor the strength, resilience, and enduring spirit of our ancestors. As we serve our community with dignity and compassion, we also celebrate the progress made and remain committed to the journey toward equality and justice.

🕊️ Let us remember. Let us honor. Let us continue to rise.
