This is a good article about processing trauma. I would like to add that another therapy intervention that is helpful is Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which also uses bilateral eye movements to help clients process their trauma. A.R.T is different from EMDR (mentioned in the article) because it also includes Voluntary Image Replacement (replacing traumatic images with new pleasant images), and the client does not have to discuss the trauma with the therapist.
