A teen girl recently shared this note before leaving our shelter with her mom, and it means everything. Safety will always be our first priority — but moments of comfort, fun, and feeling at home matter too.

Healing in every piece🧩

This week, our clients participated in a powerful group activity using donated plates from . Each woman broke a plate and then carefully glued it back together — a beautiful reminder that healing doesn’t mean going back to who you were, but embracing who you are becoming. 💜

We’re excited to share that SafeHaven received a generous $12,000 grant from the Junior League of Arlington this May! This incredible support will directly benefit our legal program, helping us continue to provide life-changing services for survivors of domestic violence.💜

Meet Margaret (Maggie) McAuley-Ford, MPH, CPH — our incredible Office of Research and Innovation intern at SafeHaven. Maggie recently earned her Master of Public Health (MPH), was named to the Dean’s List, inducted into the Delta Omega Honor Society, and awarded the prestigious Leon Brachman Award from the University of North Texas Health Science Center! 💫

During her time with us, Maggie co-authored a white paper with Dr. Lauri Jensen-Campbell that examines the risk indicators associated with intimate partner homicide. Her work challenges existing assessment tools and provides real, actionable solutions to help protect survivors of abuse.

From conducting a needs assessment to laying the foundation for a new vulnerability index, Maggie’s work is shaping a safer future for our community. 💜
