Next up, please help us celebrate Tiffany Woodard, our Office Coordinator and this year’s honoree for Flexibility!

If something unexpected pops up at 1010 N Center, chances are Tiffany is already on it! She brings a steady, can-do energy to situations, balancing front desk needs, behind-the-scenes coordination, and last-minute requests. Her flexibility helps create a welcoming space where both guests and staff feel supported.

📢 Here’s what one teammate shared about Tiffany:
“Tiffany demonstrates flexibility by seamlessly stepping in to manage the diverse and often unexpected needs at 1010 N Center. Whether welcoming guests, coordinating in-kind donations, or addressing unplanned requests, Tiffany adapts with ease and professionalism. Her ability to shift gears and respond to whatever the moment requires ensures that every guest feels valued and that our operations run smoothly.”

Thank you, Tiffany, for being someone we can always count on!💜

“Who in this scenario received justice?”

That’s the question our President and CEO, Dr. Kathryn Jacob, LMSW, asks in an op-ed published in The Oklahoman about the Jesse Butler case and the misuse of Oklahoma’s Youthful Offender Act.

This case involved repeated r**e, strangulation to unconsciousness, video evidence, and a second victim. Calling this a “youthful mistake” is not mercy, it’s a failure to understand domestic violence.

Full op-ed in the comments.

You didn't get to celebrate. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥.

Walking on eggshells. Choosing your words carefully. Praying that nothing will set him off.

For some moms, getting through the holidays was the bravest thing they could do.

If that was you, please know this. You're not weak. You're not failing. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘦.

Now, the decorations are down, and school has started again. Life looks "normal" on the outside.

But we know the work it takes to protect yourself doesn't end here.

You can’t see their faces, but you can still feel the magic. 🎄✨

For one night, the halls of our domestic violence shelter transformed into Whoville for a Grinch-themed PJ party! The kiddos had a blast, and our children's staff did such an incredible job to make shelter feel a little more joyful this holiday season.

Hey friends - it's Kathryn again.

I know it’s the week of Christmas and you probably have a million things on your to do list. Trust me, I’m right there with you.

But I couldn’t let this week go by without giving you an update on Mason, the little boy I’ve shared about before, and his brave mama. They’re spending the holidays in our emergency domestic violence shelter.

Last night, Mason asked if Santa will know where to find him this year. Of course, we reassured him. We’ll make sure Christmas still comes.

But his mom is worried about something bigger.

Shelter is safe. Shelter is life-saving. But shelter is temporary. And when the decorations come down and the holidays are over, families still need a place to go.

She told us, “I’m so grateful we’re safe right now. I just don’t know what comes next.”

What comes next matters.

For families like Mason’s, safety is only the first step. That’s why I’m sharing their story again today.

A gift made right now doesn’t help someone, someday, somewhere. It immediately helps Mason and his mom take their next step toward a safe, permanent home after shelter. It helps make sure this isn’t the Christmas Mason remembers as the year everything ended, but the year something new and stable began.

And I promise you, it will be the most meaningful gift you've made all year.

Thank you for caring about families like Mason’s, especially during a season when so many people are pulling you in so many directions.

🚘 Our friends at Junior League Fort Worth always come through SO BIG for families staying at The Archway. 🚘

We’re incredibly grateful for their generous donation of a new SUV to our Fort Worth Shelter. Reliable transportation can be a major barrier for families rebuilding their lives after abuse, and this gift makes it possible for moms and children to get to critical appointments and take meaningful steps toward safety and stability.

Thank you JLFW for your continued support and for showing up in such a tangible, life-changing way for the families we serve!!

Next up - please help us celebrate Kristin Cox, our HR Generalist and this year’s honoree for Open Communication!

Kristin creates a culture where people feel informed, supported, and heard, especially during moments of change. Her thoughtful approach to communication helps teams navigate uncertainty with clarity and care, ensuring no one feels left in the dark or left behind.

📢 Here’s what one teammate shared about Kristin:
“While open communication is a clear ‘must have’ for an HR professional, Kristin does so in a manner that is so genuine. During a tough transition period for our team, Kristin clearly communicated what needed to be done (and what didn't!), and she was extremely supportive to the staff who handled the transition. She checked in regularly, listened to our concerns, and gave us concrete ways to address them. She is a wonderful addition to The Archway!”

First up - please help us celebrate Alex Velasquez, our Facilities Coordinator and this year’s honoree for Trustworthiness! Alex leads with a deep commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces for the families in our care. His leadership and heart shape our shelters in ways that matter every single day!

📢 Here’s what one teammate shared about Alex:
“Alex embodies trauma-informed care from an operational perspective. Once he moved into his new leadership role, he asked thoughtful questions about how we can improve our work and always seeks to understand the ‘why’ behind our practices. His servant heart, team spirit, and genuine care for our clients make him an essential part of The Archway. I need to tell you about a family who’s been on my mind all week.

A brave mama and her young son, Mason*, came to The Archway’s shelter recently after a night that changed everything. It was the night Mason finally whispered that he was scared of the “monster.”

He meant his dad.

His mom told us she called our hotline that night from their guest bathroom with the water running so he wouldn’t hear her. She said she had no idea if she was doing the right thing, but she couldn’t let her son be afraid in his own home anymore.

They arrived at our shelter the weekend before Thanksgiving, but Mason still keeps his shoes beside the bed, waiting to hear his mom say it’s time to run again. He checks the lock on the door three times before he falls asleep.

His mom says, “I keep telling him we’re safe… I just need us to stay safe long enough for him to believe me.”

But here’s the truth: families like theirs don’t just need a safe room for a few nights. They need time, stability, and support to rebuild their lives after everything they’ve been through.

That’s why I’m posting today.

Giving Tuesday is all about showing up for people in our community who really need our help, and for Mason and his mom, that moment is right now.

If you feel moved to help, your gift made today will support the next part of their journey. It will give them a safe place to stay, legal advocacy, connection to available resources, and everything else it takes for a child to stop sleeping with his shoes waiting next to his bed.

Thank you for caring about families like Mason’s, and thank you for taking time to read important stories like this one.
