Edible Flowers Made Simple 🌸

Adding flowers to your food is an easy way to bring color and flavor to the table. Here’s a quick guide to some popular edible blooms and how to use them.

1️⃣ Marigold
Bright and citrusy. Sprinkle petals over salads, fruit trays, or cocktails for a cheerful touch.

2️⃣ Carnations
Lightly spicy with a clove note. Lovely in salads or as delicate cake decorations.

3️⃣ Calendula
Mild and fresh. Mix into salads or use as a natural garnish for desserts.

4️⃣ Borage Blossom
Tastes a bit like cucumber. Perfect on soups, dips, or summer drinks.

5️⃣ Fennel Blossom
Sweet with a hint of licorice. Pairs beautifully with fish or lamb dishes.

6️⃣ Chive Blossoms
Soft onion flavor. Chop into salads or sprinkle over savory plates.

Relatable mistake? Grabbing flowers from a random bouquet and tossing them on your plate. Always make sure they’re pesticide-free and safe to eat.

A few petals can turn an ordinary dish into something that feels special and creative 🌿

🍅 Tomato Pruning Tips for Better Growth
5

Pruning the right way helps your tomatoes stay healthy, productive, and full of flavor. 🌿✨

• Focus on Tomato indeterminate varieties that grow and produce all season long.
• Remove suckers (the small shoots in leaf axils) to redirect energy into fruit production.
• Prune early in the morning to minimize plant stress.
• Always use clean, sharp shears to prevent spreading disease.
• Never remove more than one-third of the plant at one time.
• Dispose of trimmed leaves away from garden beds to reduce pest and fungal problems.

🌱 Why it matters:
Proper pruning improves airflow, lowers disease risk, and encourages the plant to focus its energy on producing juicy, ripe tomatoes instead of excess foliage.

Healthy structure = healthier harvest! 🍅✨

Stopping by to say 👋🏾 fam.
Y'all this planting journey is showing alot about myself and some life/spiritual lessons:
You Reap What You Sow- Galatians 6:7 — sowing seeds of patience, discipline, kindness, or laziness all produce something. Timing Matters (Seasons of Life)-Just like:There are planting, seasons,There are pruning seasons, There are resting seasons. Ecclesiastes 3:1 — “To everything there is a season.” Not every season is a harvest season.
Growth Happens Underground First-
Roots develop before leaves show.
In life: Character forms before success shows.
Healing happens before strength returns.
You don’t see the work, but it’s happening.
You Can’t Force Growth-Spiritually:You can prepare,
You can position, But growth belongs to God. Corinthians 3:6, it says: “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”
Not Everything Survives — And That’s Okay
Some seedlings damp off. Some plants fail.
Failure in gardening doesn’t mean you’re a bad gardener.
It means you’re learning soil, timing, and balance.
Failure refines wisdom.
Environment Matters-The same seed: Thrives in good soil,Struggles in poor soil,
Spiritually:Atmosphere shapes growth.
Community affects fruit.
This connects to the Parable of the Sower in the Bible of the gospel.
Overcrowding Creates Competition- ** one of my issues**** They compete for light, Roots fight for nutrients, Yield decreases
Life lesson: Not everyone fits in every space. Boundaries allow growth.
Small Daily Care Creates Big Harvests-
Gardening isn’t one big effort — it’s consistent small actions: Check moisture, Remove pests, Rotate sunlight. Consistency > intensity.
Faith Looks Like Watering Bare Soil when you plant seeds- you water… and see nothing For days.
Sometimes weeks. That’s faith.
Composting = Redemption
Dead leaves, kitchen scraps, and failure turn into rich soil. What looked useless becomes nourishment.
Even loss can feed future growth.
Rest Is Productive- Fallow soil restores nutrients.
You don’t plant nonstop.
Rest is preparation.

Designing systems, Planning seasons,Adjusting overcrowding, Learning placement. That’s not just gardening — that’s stewardship.
I'm learning, practicing:Vision, Patience, Discernment, and Faith.
Gardening trains you to think long-term — and spiritually mature people think in seasons, not moments.... 🤔

Now: analyzing my 1st 5 bags seeing I've over crowed my bags to were my veggies are stunted in growth and may be water bound. My lettuce should have been able to harvest from within that 30 days and mines still look like seedlings. So as the Lord leads when September come these bags will be done correctly when it comes to my fall/winter veggies.
And be patient. This was my trial and error. Keep going.

Week 5or6 on this Apartment Gardening Journey , my 4 additional bags were made a week ago. I do believe that would be it I wouldn't have anymore room. My 4 is setup different with the planting, of the fruited veggies in the center, root veg on 2 row, and leafy/herbs/flowers around edges. My last bag with be the 10th bag will be built close to the summer that would be my squash bag.
