🧃 Let’s Talk Juice + Your Child’s Teeth! 🦷
Parents, we know those little juice boxes are convenient (and kiddos love them)… but here’s the truth: juice can be tough on baby teeth.

Even 100% fruit juice is packed with natural sugars, and when those sugars sit on teeth, they feed the bacteria that cause cavities. 😬 Baby teeth have thinner enamel, which means they’re more vulnerable to decay — especially with frequent sipping throughout the day.

Here are a few dentist-approved tips to help protect your child’s smile:

✨ Limit juice. The AAP recommends no juice before age 1, and only small amounts afterward. Water is always the best choice!
✨ Avoid constant sipping. Juice in sippy cups all day = sugar sitting on teeth all day.
✨ Serve juice with meals, not as a snack. This reduces how long sugars stay on teeth.
✨ Brush twice a day and don’t forget fluoride toothpaste!

Healthy habits start early, and little changes can make a big difference in keeping those smiles cavity-free. 💛

Pediatric Dental Tip: What Are Tonsil Stones — and Are They Contagious?

If your child has been complaining about a “funny taste,” bad breath, or you’ve noticed little white specks in the back of their throat, they might be dealing with tonsil stones (also called tonsilloliths).

Here are a few quick facts for parents:

🧼 What are tonsil stones?
They’re small, white, smelly clusters made of food debris, bacteria, and mucus that get trapped in the tiny pockets of the tonsils. As they harden, they can cause bad breath or throat discomfort — but they’re usually harmless.

😷 Are they contagious?
No! Tonsil stones are not an infection and cannot be passed from child to child. They’re simply a buildup that happens in some kids more than others.

👧🧒 Why do kids get them?
Kids with deep tonsil crevices, allergies, nasal congestion, or even post-nasal drip tend to get tonsil stones more often.

🦷 What we recommend:

Encourage good brushing and tongue cleaning

Keep your child hydrated

Warm saltwater rinses can help

If stones keep returning or cause discomfort, talk to your pediatric dentist or pediatrician

Tonsil stones aren’t dangerous — but they are annoying! We’re always here to help you keep little mouths healthy and fresh. 💙
