Congratulations to our recent DAISY Foundation Award winner, Destiny, who was nominated by one of her patients who wished to recognize her extraordinary compassionate care. This grateful father says it best:

💬 “My wife and I came to VHC Health seeking urgent help for our son, who was experiencing a serious mental health crisis. From the moment we entered the Emergency Department, we were treated with professionalism and care by many dedicated staff members. However, we would like to offer special recognition to Destiny for the extraordinary compassion, patience, and humanity she showed our family during a very difficult and emotional time. For more than six hours, Destiny was a steady and reassuring presence for us and for our son. She consistently checked in on him, made sure he was comfortable, brought him ice water, and most importantly, treated him as a human being first, not just a patient. She also took the time to check in on us as parents, sharing helpful information, explaining the process we were moving through, and calmly offering observations that helped us feel informed and supported rather than overwhelmed or afraid. Destiny's energy and attentiveness were remarkable. In a moment when everything felt uncertain, she truly felt like a lighthouse grounded, compassionate, and steady. It was clear that she is a team player who works hard, motivates those around her, and brings a positive spirit not only to patients and families, but to her coworkers as well. Our son was born at Virginia Hospital Center, and this experience reaffirmed why we continue to place our trust in this hospital. Destiny's care exemplified what it means to treat patients and families with dignity, respect, and genuine compassion. Her work made an incredibly challenging experience feel humane and manageable, and we are deeply grateful.”

We celebrated the opening of the Charlotte S. Benjamin Center for Women’s Health at Tysons Pavilion alongside Fairfax County Supervisor Dalia Palchik —and the establishment of a $1 million endowment to support its work.

This fund will expand access to care for underserved women and directly address health disparities in our community, supporting services that include breast health, gynecologic care, and menopause care.

This opening reflects community-centered, regional growth. The impact extends beyond our Main Campus in Arlington, demonstrating how VHC Health is expanding access while continuing to deliver the high-touch, personalized care that defines our model.
