Looks like a fascinating talk and a history that has directly impacted Arlington's ability to use our own shores of the Potomac. https://arlhist.org/event/who-owns-the-potomac/?fbclid=IwY2xjawJeFRhleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHpkbAeBeWLfUm-h451cSkU1UEpBIABMJ9_bAzK8Jk8B2sf9-iQnc9uF30FXZ_aem_AirIZKdgp1KF-9PuoY2jyg

Have you ever looked at maps and wondered why the boundary line between Virginia and Maryland on the Potomac River is so odd? It is not in the middle of the river, like it is in most places, and it doesn't really follow the curves of one shoreline or the other. Michael Nardolilli, the Executive Dire...

The Arlington Boathouse Foundation is happy to announce Sean Bamman’s addition to our board of directors. A fourth-generation Arlingtonian, Sean is a graduate of Washington-Lee (now Liberty) (’92) and the University of Virginia (’96) and president of BCI, a telecom company he founded in January 2005. Passionate about rowing, Sean is focused on seeing the Arlington Boathouse project through to its completion so Arlingtonians, including his wife and sons, can enjoy access to the Potomac River from the shores of his hometown. As a board of directors, Sean will lead our capital fundraising initiatives, interfacing directly with the county’s high school programs and the community. Welcome, Sean!

Update June 7th, 2022: after a review of the site we've found an extensive amount of poison ivy that we do not want to expose our community to. Likewise, we found the site much cleaner than we previously observed, which is great! We are going to hold off until next fall to meet at the site and take care of our riverfront. In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like to talk more about the project please feel free to reach out to us. Our president, Erik Meyers, or vice president, Paul Holland are happy to hear your thoughts: info@arlingtonboathouse.org

Arlington residents, we need you! Please take a moment to help support the Arlington Boathouse Foundation in reminding the county that creating Charlie's dream of a boathouse in Rosslyn is alive and well, and important to county residents! Please take a moment to fill out the county survey that runs through 3/22:

On the "How Should Arlington Invest in Major Infrastructure for the Future? Your Parks" page, ABF recommends including the following in the comment box below the "Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about your priorities related to parks?" question:
I encourage the County to utilize this CIP to continue the development of the Arlington Boathouse Project. The 2019 Public Spaces Master Plan, approved by the Arlington County Board in April 2019, called for the County to collaborate with the National Park Service to develop a boathouse for non-motorized boating and enhance connections and access to the Potomac River. Improving access will result in a drastic increase in the availability of space for both active and passive recreation by boaters along the Potomac. Please fully fund the next step in the process, the planning and design of the Boathouse in FY 2024, and allocate money for construction the out years of the CIP.

The Capital Improvement Plan or CIP is the County's plan for building, upgrading, and replacing facilities and infrastructure. It captures Arlington planned investments in major infrastructure over a 10-year period and is updated every two years.
