“Feeling like myself again is the thought running through my mind daily since having my knees replaced. I am able to go to places again and marvel at the beauty of hiking trails and overlooks when I travel now. I had my knees replaced and yes, it was tough going through the pain and physical therapy, however it was much more painful sitting on the sidelines of living. Dr. Drkulec gave me hope that having my knees replaced was the best option for me to get back what I was missing for several years of not doing things I love to do.... Through his care, he guided me through the surgery, hospitalization, physical therapy and after care. He gave me the confidence that I could get back all the fun of life by relieving the agony of very bad knees. He was right, it was the best decision I made for myself. Now I am able to hike, stand for long periods of time, and even walked the State Fair of Texas for the day. I feel great and I am grateful for the care I received to get back to having a full fun life. Dr. Drkulec is a fantastic care provider, excels at bed side etiquette and has superb associates that help provide excellence in care.” -A.M.

✨A Look Back at March with AOA ✨

-Dr. Walsh shared an educational talk with our Baylor Orthopedic & Spine Hospital Arlington partners, highlighting the latest advances in knee and hip joint replacement. Fun fact: today’s joint replacements are lasting 20+ years and performing strong in long-term studies.

-AOA proudly participated in the City of Irving’s annual employee Health & Safety Fair, featuring a fun “Road Trip” theme. 🚗

-We’re excited to officially join the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce and partner with the local community. At the luncheon, we heard school district updates and had the pleasure of meeting the mayor, superintendent, and other local business leaders.

When an athlete gets injured, you’ll often find an athletic trainer on the scene. Their hard work is the first line of defense in helping athletes get back in the game.

But they also work around the clock to help athletes avoid injuries in the first place. Trainers - your expertise makes a difference every single day. We see you, and we’re thankful for you.

Happy National Athletic Training Month!

During March Madness, quick cuts and fast breaks put serious stress on ankles and knees. Sports medicine doctors play a critical role in treating injuries and reducing risks.

We’re hoping everyone stays healthy all tournament long, and that TCU, SMU, or one of the other Texas schools wins it all!

“I had my left foot reconstructed 10 years ago… It was a long recovery which I had expected. There was a hospital stay and then a series of hard casts. Driving to Dallas was not fun either. So, when my right foot started to flatten out more & push my toes to the right causing several falls, I knew it needed to be reconstructed also. I knew my Dallas doctor was semi-retired and the Dallas traffic would only be worse, so I started looking closer to home for a foot surgeon.. I found Dr. Stewart… He was direct, answering all my questions & did not rush. There had been some advancements in this surgery over 10 yrs. There was no hospital stay, only 1 hard cast, and very little pain. It was a long recovery just like the last time. When an older person is in a chair or scooter for months the leg muscles get weaker. My surgery was at the end of Dec 2024. By July I went on a trip with my granddaughter! Since then I have spent a lot of time in the yard, trimming bushes, planting flowers, etc. Being able to wear sandals again is also a plus! I really appreciate the skill and patience of Dr. Stewart & all the staff at AOA (especially Pablo).” -V.J.

Today we’re celebrating the people who keep everything moving behind the scenes. From patient care to scheduling to surgery support, our team shows dedication and compassion every single day.

Happy Employee Appreciation Day to the incredible team that makes our practice possible!

Our teams in Dallas and Waxahachie are “big dills,” we broke out the snacks in Mansfield, and the Irving office popped some sparkling cider and celebrated National Oreo Day as well!
