🔴 What is it? They are red mole-like skin growth that is made up of small blood vessels or capillaries. People get them most commonly in adulthood (30+) & the moles can increase in size and numbers with age.

May is Awareness month and as an Esthetician, it is my duty to increase public awareness about melanoma. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the US.
Current estimates are that 1 in 5 Americans will get diagnosed in their lifetime. Here are some steps to minimize the risk.

1️⃣ Wear Broad-Spectrum (IMPORTANT!!) sunscreen every day- even when you're inside! Broad Spectrum sunscreen means that it'll protect against those UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays!! ☀️

2️⃣Wear a hat, glasses, cover-ups. Limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.🕑

3️⃣Get a full-body skin exam annually with your derm! it takes 15 mins and is really easy!

4️⃣Regularly examine yourself. If you ever feel anxious about a spot you find on your skin, note it and aks your derm!

5️⃣Don't go to a tanning bed!

Not only should you apply SPF for yourself, but for the mamas out there smother your children in it. Stay Safe my friends 🙏🏻
