✨ Meet the twins, Caitlin & Luka — leptospirosis survivors! ✨

Luka kept us smiling with his singing voice and dance moves, while Caitlin showed us her calm, affectionate, little-lady charm. 🐾💖

We already miss their big personalities here, but we’re so happy they’re back home — safe, spoiled, and recovering well! 🏡💕

💡 Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial disease that can affect both pets and people, often spread through water or soil contaminated by wildlife. Early diagnosis and treatment are key — and these two are proof that recovery is possible!

📸 Photos were taken after their hospitalization and only when it was completely safe. At VEHM & VEHA safety always comes first when treating contagious conditions.

Meet Ashley, one of our talented Veterinary Technicians at VEHA! Ashley jumped into the veterinary world right after high school where she graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She has also earned certifications in phlebotomy, ECG, and laser therapy, making her a true asset to both our patients and our team.

Ashley has discovered her passion in caring for animals and supporting their owners, finding joy in the constant opportunities to learn and grow in patient care. What she values most about VEHA is the amazing team she gets to work with: “our job is hard but it isn’t very often you get to work with people who genuinely care about our patients’ level of care and each other.”

Outside of work, Ashley cherishes time with her family and lives by the belief that everything happens for a reason. She’s resilient in the face of challenges and always finds her way through with strength and humor. If Ashley could be any pet, she’d be a Boxer, serious when needed, but mostly full of laughter, joy, and loyalty.

We’re so grateful for thoughtful feedback like this from our amazing clients

At Veterinary Emergency Hospital of Arlington, we believe that great care means not just treating your pet but making sure you feel informed, supported, and heard every step of the way.

A big thank you to this pet parent for trusting us with their cat’s care and for taking the time to share their experience. And thank you, Dr. Huber, for always going above and beyond. 💙🐾

At VEHA, we love a good spotted pup but Dalmatians come with a lot of myths that don’t always reflect the real dog behind the dots. Let’s clear a few things up!

🚫 Myth: Dalmatians are low maintenance.
✅ Fact: Dalmatians shed a lot year round. That short coat might look easy, but be ready for regular brushing (and lint rollers!).

🚫 Myth: Dalmatians are all deaf
✅ Fact: While Dalmatians do have a higher risk of deafness (due to genetics), not all are affected. BAER testing helps identify hearing loss early.

🚫 Myth: They're just a "pretty face."
✅ Fact: Dalmatians are highly intelligent and need mental stimulation puzzle toys, obedience training, and interactive play go a long way.

🚫 Myth: They don’t need socialization.
✅ Fact: Like all breeds, early socialization is key. Dalmatians can be reserved or even reactive without proper exposure to people and pets.

🎯 Dalmatian Tip: This breed thrives in active homes with structure, love, and a job to do. They’re not just iconic they’re incredible companions when understood and supported.

Have a Dalmatian? Drop their name or photo in the comments we’d love to give them a virtual tail wag! 🐾📸

Texas heat means more wildlife activity including snakes. At VEHA, we want to help pet parents stay ahead of danger with these preventive tips:

🏡 Inspect Your Yard Regularly
Check for holes, gaps under fences, and dark hiding spots where snakes could slip in.

🐕 Avoid Letting Pets Roam Off-Leash in Undeveloped Areas
Curious noses + hidden snakes = a dangerous combo. Stick to pet-friendly parks and open spaces.

🍽️ Don’t Leave Pet Food Outside
Outdoor food bowls attract rodents and snakes often follow the food chain.

🎾 Supervise Outdoor Play
Always keep an eye on your pets, especially near rock gardens, woodpiles, or under porches.

👀 Watch for Warning Signs After Outdoor Time
Limping, swelling, sudden pain, or puncture wounds can indicate a snake bite. When in doubt, don’t wait get help fast.

Your awareness is your pet’s best protection. If the unexpected happens, VEHA is here 24/7 to help.

Things can happen in an instant and knowing what to do in those first few moments can help keep your pet safe until you can get professional care.

Here are a few lesser-known at-home tips from your team at Veterinary Emergency Hospital of Arlington (VEHA):

🔥 Burns (Thermal or Chemical):
Rinse the area gently with cool water only no ice or ointments. Then cover lightly with a clean cloth and seek immediate veterinary care.

💨 Choking:
If your pet is pawing at their mouth or struggling to breathe, check for visible obstructions but don’t reach blindly into the throat. Call for help right away.

🐾 Broken Nails or Bleeding Paws:
Apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth or gauze. You can use styptic powder (or cornstarch in a pinch) to help slow the bleeding.

😴 Sudden Collapse or Unconsciousness:
Keep your pet warm and quiet. Avoid handling too much, and get them to a vet as soon as possible.

📌 Bonus Tip: Stay Prepared
Post emergency numbers including VEHA’s on your fridge or saved in your phone for quick access.

Your calm response can make a huge difference during an emergency. We’re here when you need us day or night. 💙

🥜 Keep Treats Handy Bring familiar treats to ease stress and reward calm behavior during the journey.

🏨 Plan Pet-Friendly Stops Map out rest areas, hotels, or parks that welcome pets along your route.
