Advocacy is a family affair. 💜

Yolonda Brisbane, Grassroots Manager at Dialysis Patient Citizens, joined forces with her brother, Al Brisbane—a DPC Patient Ambassador and transplant recipient—and her 12-year-old daughter, Ariel Hodge-Brisbane, to represent DPC at the Black Family Wellness Expo in New York’s Capital Region.

Hosted by The Links, Incorporated (Albany, NY Chapter) and Albany Med Health System, the event brought together more than 1,000 attendees focused on health, wellness, and community.

The Brisbane family shared vital kidney disease resources and raised awareness—continuing the powerful legacy of their mother, Diane Brisbane, who was a dialysis patient for 18 years and a dedicated DPC Patient Ambassador, Board Member, and Vice President of the organization.

Together, they’re showing what it means to turn lived experience into lasting impact.

Thank you, Representative Terri Sewell, for your continued support of the kidney community. In addition to serving as the Democratic lead on the Kidney Care Access Protection Act in the House and co-sponsoring the Restore Protections for Dialysis Patients Act, Rep. Sewell recently visited a local dialysis clinic.
Visits like this are important opportunities to bring patients, providers, and representatives together to pursue a common goal.

Meet Bruce Tippets, a dedicated Patient Ambassador and advocate in the kidney community. 💬💙
Bruce is using his voice and lived experience to speak up for patients and push for meaningful change—highlighting the real challenges people face in accessing the care and coverage they need. His advocacy is helping raise awareness of why expanding access to Medigap plans is so important for individuals on dialysis.
Through his efforts, Bruce is making sure patients are heard, supported, and not left behind. His story is a powerful reminder that patient voices can influence policy, raise awareness, and improve the future of kidney care.
