SHEA’s March Virtual Hill Visits bring the voices of healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention, and public health experts directly into federal policy discussions.
Each March, SHEA member advocates engage with Congressional offices to:
- Elevate the importance of health services research and the role federal investment plays in improving patient safety, care delivery, and evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Highlight the need to sustain federal public health surveillance systems, including the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), which is critical to preventing healthcare‑associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AR).
- Underscore the value of grant funding for state HAI/AR programs, which support frontline infection prevention and antimicrobial resistance efforts across healthcare settings.
These conversations help policymakers understand how federal investments translate into real‑world impact—supporting stronger surveillance, safer healthcare delivery, and a more resilient public health infrastructure nationwide.
SHEA’s advocacy reflects the collective expertise of our community and reinforces the essential role that sustained federal investment plays in protecting patients, healthcare workers, and communities.
