Family Link connects families of children with diabetes to one another to receive the information and Join our exciting youth and family programs!

Helping families when they need it most—every day. The Family Link program of the American Diabetes Association connects families of children with diabetes with one another to receive the information and support they need to cope with the changes and challenges of diabetes. Family Link offers social and educational events, school advocacy, and one on one emotional support for parents. Visit diabetes.org/illinoisfamilylink to learn more. Diabetes Camp is a summer program that combines fun activities with diabetes education and support. The primary goal of this program is to empower youth with diabetes by teaching them the skills they need to manage their disease successfully. Camp programs include overnight camps (ages 8-18) and day camps (ages 4-9). Visit diabetes.org/illinoiscamps to learn more. The Parent Mentor Network offers parents and caregivers support as they cope with the changes and challenges that diabetes presents. It is a peer helper initiative designed to provide diabetes information and support through other parents of children with diabetes. If they are interested in participating, families who are newly diagnosed are contacted by a parent volunteer who provides emotional support, relevant information and a listening ear. The Safe at School Campaign equips helps families to overcome barriers at school by building awareness and encouraging resolutions to the challenges encountered by children with diabetes in the school setting by advising them of their rights. The campaign ensures that all children with diabetes are medically safe at school and have the same educational opportunities as their classmates. Visit diabetes.org/safeatschool to learn more.
