The new hospital will be constructed near Texas Health Neighborhood Care & Wellness Willow Park and Texas Health Orthopedic & Spine Surgery Center Willow Park, expanding services and creating a medical campus in the community. It is expected to open in 2028.

Texas Health Southwest recently brought the outdoors inside with “Camp Clean Line”—a high-energy, hands-on training event designed to reengage care teams and reinforce best practices for IV and central line care.

Five rooms were transformed into whimsical campgrounds, complete with banners, themed décor, and even a paper bonfire. Staff were welcomed by leaders dressed as camp counselors and guided through interactive stations led by the vascular access and infection prevention teams. At each stop, they earned beads for their friendship bracelets—each one symbolizing new knowledge gained in CLABSI (Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infection) prevention.

One standout moment: a teach-back scenario where staff assessed a simulated patient setup, applying their training in real time. The day wrapped with a “bonfire of knowledge,” where participants tossed paper flames bearing their names into the mock fire, celebrating their role in building a safer hospital. And yes—everyone left with a s’mores kit.

Camp Clean Line showed that education doesn’t have to be routine—it can be memorable, meaningful and fun. What a great idea!

Get to know Texas Health! Meet Lauren Britton, B.S.N., R.N., RNC-OB, a manager of labor and delivery and mother-baby at Texas Health Rockwall. Lauren is in our employee spotlight and talks about her thoughts on nursing, leadership and her great love: helping women give birth.

When asked what is your favorite part of your job, Lauren said, “Birth is an incredible, dynamic process and will always be my absolute favorite part of my job. We have to be ready for anything in labor and delivery, because women of all types and health conditions can become pregnant and give birth. Nursing leadership was not a specific career goal for me, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy supporting, guiding and leading my fellow nurses in their careers."

We have the best nurses!

Texas Health Dallas’ Cancer Center butterfly garden is flying high after earning a certification from the North American Butterfly Association. This recognition celebrates the garden’s commitment to hosting and maintaining native plants that nourish and support butterflies and other pollinators, while also serving as a healing space for team members, patients and visitors.

For Stephanie Bailey, Ph.D., RNC-NIC, a nurse scientist at Texas Health Dallas, this project was more than just a garden — it was a chance to cultivate environmental and emotional wellness. “This project was the first where I was the lead researcher,” Bailey said. “It has made me feel like I’m personally making an impact on our environment and well-being.”

Get to know Texas Health! Meet Hillary Hummel-Kerbs, PT, DPT, CLT, a physical therapist and certified lymphedema therapist at Texas Health Azle. Hillary is in our employee spotlight and talks about her journey, her day-to-day life and the surprising pet she once had.

When asked what is your favorite part of your job, Hillary said, "I love those “aha!” moments when a patient makes a breakthrough, whether it’s understanding their body better or realizing their progress. One of my favorite celebrations is when a pelvic floor patient proudly declares, “I pooped today!” and we both cheer like it’s an Olympic victory. Working with lymphedema patients also brings me a lot of joy. Watching limbs shrink and skin heal feels like slow, steady magic."

Our employees are awesome!
