Who needs to hear this today? 🙌🏼

“My potential is limitless. I choose how I spend my energy.” -Kristin McGee

September can be busy to say the least. If we’re not careful with how we spend our time, it can be easy to get distracted, or even derailed, from our goals and intentions.

We love this mantra from one of our favorite yoga instructors. A reminder that the sky is your limit. Think big. And be mindful of your most precious currency — time and energy. Spend it wisely and you can achieve anything you set out to do.

What’s your favorite mantra? Maybe we’ll feature it on our monthly mantra board in the coming months!

Hey AoHers, it’s Chrissy here with a quick announcement… 📣

After stepping away from the massage table these last few years to focus on raising my littles (and supporting AoH from behind the scenes), I’m excited to be seeing clients again starting in September!

As a clinical nutritionist, I will primarily be running GI-focused nutrition programs, but I’ll also be practicing my first love of massage therapy on Fridays. 💆🏻‍♀️

Whether you are an OG member of the AoH community or looking to try someone new, I’d love to see you and help you meet your wellness goals!

I specialize in a form of Deep Tissue massage called Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), which focuses on the relationship between your nervous system and musculoskeletal system, addressing miniature spasms called trigger points, which can create referred pain patterns.

Some of the perpetuating factors that can contribute to trigger point formation are musculoskeletal imbalances, stress, overuse, a sedentary lifestyle, illness, and nutrient deficiencies. Addressing these literal pain points can relieve tension and discomfort from the source!

I also practice classic Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports, and Prenatal massage.

As a dual practitioner, I absolutely love educating clients who are interested in learning more about what is happening in their bodies both on and off the table. You must consider all aspects of health to reach optimal wellness.

You can book with me online via the link in our bio. I look forward to seeing some of you soon!!

This month has been pretty special because we grew by one team member!

AoH community, meet Morgana Alexander, LMT! 🎉🎉

Morgana joins us with fifteen years of experience in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy/Trigger Point Work, Prenatal, Hot Stone Therapy, Sports, and Oncology massage.

She currently serves clients in clinical practice and in a hospital setting. In addition to her commitment to educating and empowering clients on their wellness journey, Morgana is also passionate about sharing her knowledge through teaching and has been a faculty member at two local massage schools in the last three years.

We quietly welcomed her to the practice a couple of weeks ago and her schedule filled 100%. 👀 Thank you so much for such a warm welcome! 🩵

She’s with us on Sundays and Mondays and will be adding Wednesdays and Thursdays in April, offering 60-90 minute sessions.

Come in for a session and meet her in person! You can book via the link in bio or the one right below:

This simple daily habit can change the trajectory of your health!

It’s called Pranayama and it’s an ancient breath technique that consists of controlling your breath mindfully for various lengths.

Our resident yoga therapist, Lara De Luca Truppo, regularly incorporates breath work into her Yoga Therapy sessions:

“I am a huge promoter of Pranayama practice to support healthy aging. Cultivating a regular and consistent breathing practice strengthens the respiratory system, digestion and elimination, the cardiovascular system, hormone balance, and last, but not least, the nervous system. All systems communicate with each other in harmony and balance when the breath is regulated with mindful exercise. The secret is integrating consistent Pranayama practice to create a healthy habit.”

Want to learn more about Pranayama or the benefits of working with a yoga therapist? Schedule a free 15-minute discovery call with Lara today via the link in bio!

Our Story

Chrissy Hayden founded The Art of Health, LLC in 2008 to bring high quality bodywork to clients in a safe, therapeutic atmosphere. Since our inception, we have added clinical nutrition and yoga therapy to our service offerings.

Over the last decade, AoH has grown into a group practice of professionals who have made it their mission to inspire, educate and empower others to live a quality, symptom-free life using the power of food, the healing qualities of touch and guided, mindful movement.

In 2018, we expanded into our new facility in the Fairlington neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia. We also serve clients virtually for nutrition services around the globe.
