Fifteen years ago, CFNOVA released its first data-driven report on the challenges and opportunities facing the region’s youth. Today, those children are young adults navigating a rapidly changing world—shaped by economic shifts, workforce demands, and new concerns around health and safety.

Our 2025 report revisits the data to uncover how Northern Virginia’s youth have grown and what their experiences reveal about the future of our communities. From education and economic mobility to persistent disparities and areas of progress, this report provides key insights that demand our collective attention.

Our longtime design client, the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, has partnered with the Capital Area Community Foundations to launch the DCA Together Relief Fund to support victims’ families, first responders, and recovery efforts after the tragedy January 29th.

On January 29, our community suffered a devastating loss with the tragic crash of Flight 5342 & the Army Black Hawk Helicopter. It's always a joy to work with clients that are passionate about the community they serve. Last week, I attended the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia's annual Shape of the Region Conference, which drew more than 350 people in person and online to discuss the complex challenges older Northern Virginians face.

I worked closely with Elizabeth Hughes, Senior Director of Insight Region®, to design the report Growing Old Together in Northern Virginia — from which she presented the findings — and provided the Foundation with branded presentation templates and signage for the event.

The conference featured multiple panels of national and local experts for candid discussions about the challenges, and what innovative ideas and opportunities may exist in addressing this critical issue that impacts everyone.
