This is the best self care secret no one talks about!
In the stillness, our strength is renewed. In a world filled with noise, constant demands, and endless responsibilities, we must intentionally slow down and ground ourselves in the study of God’s Word. Scripture is not simply something we read to check off a spiritual task for the day—it is the very source that nourishes, stabilizes, and strengthens us.
When we sit with God’s Word, we are doing the most vital form of self-care. The Word refuels us when we are exhausted, redirects us when we feel lost, and restores us when life has drained our energy. Through Scripture, God aligns our thoughts, calms our hearts, and renews our strength so we can continue to walk in purpose.
The truth is, commitment to Scripture is commitment to your entire wellbeing—mind, body, and spirit. When your spirit is nourished, your mind becomes clearer, your decisions become wiser, and even your physical health can benefit from the peace and stability that God provides.
The more consistently we return to the Word, the more grounded we become. Our identity is strengthened, our direction becomes clearer, and our lives begin to reflect the peace and power that come from walking closely with God.
Here are 3 Practical Tips that I use to stay grounded in God’s Word
1. Starting my day with Scripture before the noise begins.
Spending some time in the morning definitely helps to set the tone for my entire day. Simply reading a passage-long or short, meditating on it, and asking God how it applies to my life today.
2. Reflecting, and not just reading.
Pausing and asking myself: What is God teaching me through this passage? What needs to shift in my thinking or actions? Reflection allows the Word to transform us rather than just having the knowledge.
3. Pairing Scripture with stillness.
After reading, taking a few quiet moment to pray, journal, or simply sit with God. This allows the Word to settle into our heart and bring clarity, peace, and direction.
