I started my practice because I saw a major design flaw in the newborn and postpartum model of care in our country. On the one hand, particularly with families that are having issues with their newborn, we were bringing them back-and-forth into a doctors office to address only the needs of the newborn. On the other hand, we were leaving the brand new mother to sort out many challenging physical symptoms on her own in her home.

Since this practice began over eight years ago, we have always and only taken insurance. This has never been a concierge practice. We use already existing billing codes and we feel like this is something that should be available to familes as a standard option for newborn & maternal care.

The fourth trimester is such a messy (and beautiful) time! Even the issues that arise are messy— it is often really confusing to even really know if some of the issues belong to the baby or the mom because it’s all so blended together during this time...

One of the philosophies behind this practice is that we spend a lot of care and thought on pregnancy and birth and then we are sort of left to figure a lot out alone in our homes once the baby comes. Part of the issue is that it is hard to leave the home during these first few days /weeks often because things are really challenging… so home visits that look after both the maternal and pediatric issues allows room for questions that often stay alone at home ….
