🙂 Sweet Dew of the Dharma – From Intention to Realization: The Path of Practice

A bodhisattva’s cultivation begins with the right cause, which is a selfless practice that is benefiting others as it is benefiting oneself. Having developed a lasting, diligent and compassionate resolve, a bodhisattva will surely bring about the right effect and realize the Way.

During our Walk for Peace, Venerable JianGong led a meditation session in the heart of River Legacy Park. Many passersby were deeply touched by the serene and mindful presence of the participants. One participant later shared a moving reflection, noting how the surrounding environment seemed to grow calmer the longer we sat together in silence.

Following the gathering, several longtime Dharma supporters expressed their heartfelt appreciation by inviting Venerable JianGong to enjoy a delicious vegetarian meal at a nearby restaurant. We are deeply grateful to Shifu for making the journey to Arlington and for continuing to benefit others through his compassionate guidance.

On January 11, Venerable JianGong of Chung Tai International Retreat Center 中台國際禪修中心 (Texas Pagoda Chan Monastery) led a heartfelt tribute in support of the ongoing Walk for Peace movement across the United States. Participants from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions gathered at River Legacy Park in Arlington, united by a shared aspiration for world peace.

Guided by his deep compassion, Venerable JianGong opened the gathering with a Dharma talk for both new and longtime Dharma friends. His reflections touched on the light of wisdom, the truth of impermanence, and our inherent true nature. The talk was followed by a brief introduction to sitting meditation, during which participants received gentle guidance on breath counting as a method for settling our mind into calmness.

On November 23rd, we hosted a wonderful vegetarian holiday potluck to welcome Venerable JianGong, Abbot of Texas Pagoda Chan Monastery. We are grateful to the volunteers from Shepherd who donated their time and efforts to bring the Abbot to our event. The program began with a delicious vegetarian feast, followed by a session of Qi Gong, meditation, and a special Q&A session.

Later, we had the honor of welcoming the celebrant master to preside over the Three Refuges Transmission ceremony. During this ceremony, two members sincerely took the Three Jewels as their refuge. We are deeply grateful for the community interest and support shown by all who gathered to deepen their practice. Here are a few photos:

The Dallas-Fort Worth Zen Meditation & Study Group had a great turnout for our warm welcome to Venerable JianGong from the Chung Tai International Retreat Center 中台國際禪修中心.

We kicked off our two-day sessions with our sister branches in Shepherd, TX, and Houston, who joined us online. We received great cheer and support as our seasoned members welcomed new participants from the greater DFW area.

We started by warmly welcoming the Abbot, who taught us the fundamentals in applying meditation techniques to promote mindfulness in our everyday life. This was followed by walking meditation and QiGong. Participants were then taught the basics of the Buddha's teachings, such as the Four Noble Truths.

We ended our auspicious event with a delicious vegetarian lunch! Here are a few photos:
