On March 9th, Venerable Jiangong, Abbot of Chung Tai International Retreat Center 中台國際禪修中心, received a warm welcome from Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra at Hoang Dao Vipassana Center (The Ancient Sacred Buddhist Scripture Stupas Bảo Tháp Tàng Kinh Thánh Điển). Accompanying the Abbot were several disciples of the Three Jewels, who were also graciously received and shown warm hospitality.

Out of compassion, Ven. Bhikkhu Paññākāra graciously took time from his busy schedule to give us a tour of the Buddha Hall, grand kitchen, and meditation garden. We found the future site of the Dhammacetiya project to be especially peaceful and inspiring.

We wish Hoang Dao Vipassana Center great success with their Dhammacetiya groundbreaking ceremony on Vesak Day!

Here are some photos taken during our visit to the Vipassana Center:

🙂 Sweet Dew of the Dharma – Purification and Elevation: The Essence of Chan (Zen)

Chan means to purify and elevate the mind, from the coarse to the refined, from the relative to the absolute.

On March 8th, we had the honor of welcoming Venerable JianGong Shifu from Chung Tai International Retreat Center 中台國際禪修中心 to continue teaching the Five Precepts and emphasizing the importance of upholding them in daily life. He offered a deeper exploration of their practical application, illustrating how these principles can guide our actions, thoughts, and relationships. Through clear explanations and meaningful examples, he highlighted the positive outcomes that arise from living in alignment with the precepts, including greater clarity, compassion, and inner stability.

The teachings followed a session of sitting meditation, allowing participants to cultivate stillness and awareness. This transitioned into mindful walking meditation, where we practiced maintaining presence and attentiveness with each step.

Later, we gathered with participants at River Legacy Park, where Shifu led a session of Qigong. Through gentle, flowing movements, we were guided to connect breath, body, and mind in harmony. The day concluded with a mini peace walk, offering an opportunity to carry mindfulness into motion and share a sense of calm, unity, and intention with the surrounding community. Here are a few captured moments:

🙂 Sweet Dew of the Dharma – From Intention to Realization: The Path of Practice

A bodhisattva’s cultivation begins with the right cause, which is a selfless practice that is benefiting others as it is benefiting oneself. Having developed a lasting, diligent and compassionate resolve, a bodhisattva will surely bring about the right effect and realize the Way.

During our Walk for Peace, Venerable JianGong led a meditation session in the heart of River Legacy Park. Many passersby were deeply touched by the serene and mindful presence of the participants. One participant later shared a moving reflection, noting how the surrounding environment seemed to grow calmer the longer we sat together in silence.

Following the gathering, several longtime Dharma supporters expressed their heartfelt appreciation by inviting Venerable JianGong to enjoy a delicious vegetarian meal at a nearby restaurant. We are deeply grateful to Shifu for making the journey to Arlington and for continuing to benefit others through his compassionate guidance.

On January 11, Venerable JianGong of Chung Tai International Retreat Center 中台國際禪修中心 (Texas Pagoda Chan Monastery) led a heartfelt tribute in support of the ongoing Walk for Peace movement across the United States. Participants from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions gathered at River Legacy Park in Arlington, united by a shared aspiration for world peace.

Guided by his deep compassion, Venerable JianGong opened the gathering with a Dharma talk for both new and longtime Dharma friends. His reflections touched on the light of wisdom, the truth of impermanence, and our inherent true nature. The talk was followed by a brief introduction to sitting meditation, during which participants received gentle guidance on breath counting as a method for settling our mind into calmness.
