Our FIRST Patient Seminar is officially in the books and we kicked it off with a bang talking all things pickleball injury prevention! Drs. Ashok, Gallagher, Gebrelul, and Sheth brought the energy (and the expertise), sharing tips to keep you on the court. We covered everything from feet to shoulders with a few memorable one-liners to help it stick:
• “Press the gas pedal!” (plantar flexion for that Achilles power)
• “Try playing pickleball without a hip or knee…” (spoiler alert: you can’t!)
• “After you warm up… you should feel warm.”
• And of course… “Motion is lotion.”
Huge thank you to our amazing PT team (Todd, Kellie, Kabi, Sheri, Juliette, and PTT James) for demonstrating exercises and helping bring it all to life.

At a Leadership Summit last week in Arizona, our PT Clinic Directors — Marius (Lorton), Stacy (Mount Vernon), David (Fairfax), Todd (Reston), and Kellie (Shirlington) — represented AOC on a national stage.

Marius and the Lorton team won the FOTO Award, recognizing outstanding functional outcomes, patient satisfaction, and clinical excellence. Selected from hundreds of clinics nationwide, this award is based entirely on objective data, and Lorton exceeded the national average in both key measures.

Stacy and the Mount Vernon team earned the Customer Service Award.

These honors reflect the leadership, standards, and team commitment that define AOC PT across all our locations.

Established over 75 years ago!

The Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic was founded in 1938 and represents a long-standing tradition of excellence in orthopedic care. Our founding partner, Dr. Otto Anderson Engh was a polio specialist and knew that he wanted to build the first clinic to fill the void in specialized treatment for crippled children. He went on to work with the Arlington Department of Health, Arlington Hospital Alexandria Hospital and DC General Hospital to develop programs for these children. In the 1940's he founded what was soon to be known as National Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Dr. Otto Engh was President of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society, District of Columbia Orthopaedic Society and Alexandria Medical Society.

After his retirement, the clinic continued to grow under the leadership of Dr. Otto Engh's two sons, Dr. Charles Anderson Engh and Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Anderson Engh. While growing up, Charles and Jerry frequently followed their dad on hospital rounds over the weekend beginning patient care at an early age. Drs. Charles and Jerry specialized in different areas from the beginning both eventually championing specialties of their own - Dr. Charles, hip replacement and Dr. Jerry, knee replacement.

Since then, Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic has changed how Orthopadics is practiced today through high quality research and providing outstanding care. Anderson Clinic is recognized as an world leader in the field of Orthopadics. The practice has expanded to include 13 surgeons with all different sub-specialties.
