📣📣I have officially RETIRED from birth work!!📣📣
I got into birth work when my children were toddlers. It was the perfect way for me to take my passion about birth and education and have a source of income for my family. It allowed me to be home with my kids, have a flexible schedule, teach when it worked for my family, attend births, and take months off as needed.

Now, 11 years later, I’m saying “Goodbye” to a career I have loved and a business I built. But I’m also saying “Hello” to a brand new chapter: parenting teenagers!
*
In 5 years, my husband and I will have 2 high school graduates. My career (whatever I want it to be) will always be there. Money can always be made. But my children will only be this little (not so little) for a short amount of time. I don’t want to miss anything.

2 years ago, my son found his love for competitive swim. We spend most of our evenings at the natatorium and weekends at swim meets.
*
My daughter has entered the jr high years where she is figuring out what she wants to do and is trying all sorts of things: choir, musicals, yearbook, and possibly photography.
*
Over the last year, I’ve started working small part time jobs at my church, booking flights, and substitute teaching at my kids’ school.
*
So with all that, I’m saying “Goodbye” to Arlington Birth Services. It’s been a fabulous 11 years. I’ve served hundreds of families who have started their own families. I’ve educated many couples on birth and postpartum. And I’ve helped other doulas and birth educators start their wonderful career in such a rewarding job.

I’m immensely grateful for all the families that have allowed me into their intimate spaces, for the beautiful friendships I’ve made, and the wonderful mentors who have guided me throughout the years. I look back on my career and I’m proud of what I did. Now, it’s time to look forward to guiding my children through their teen years and into adulthood.
