Staff from Douglas County Memorial Hospital attended the SD Healthcare Preparedness Coalition Summit held in Oacoma, SD. The SDHPC is made up of providers across healthcare, public health, emergency management, EMS, and community partners. The Summit supports collaboration and coordination that help ensure South Dakota is ready to respond effectively and protect health and safety across the state.

Nicole Neugebauer, Lana Stremick, and McKenzie Muckey, (not pictured: Heather Messer) spent the conference learning about Decontamination, Threat Recognition, Cyber Events, Critical Response, and Incident Management Systems. Education and collaboration are key in healthcare facilities and learning what resources are available to our facility is key to response. Representatives from across the state shared experiences and knowledge of various events within their systems.
