Valley Vue Care Center celebrated the ‘Grands’ in our community for National Grandparent’s Day this past weekend. Many families and friends took time from their busy schedules to visit with residents and enjoy warm apple pie and refreshments. The atmosphere was lively with conversation, laughs, and love.

We will be celebrating Grandparents' Day in the afternoon of Sunday, September 7th. What a fun afternoon of drinking tea and tea lacing we had yesterday at Spring Creek Independent & Assisted Living! Some tenants really gave their fingers a workout! Nurse Macy's daughter, Lux, was our little helper and we enjoyed her company and help!

Thank you to the Johnson Family from the Swea City area for bringing sweet corn in for us to shuck and our dietary team for cooking the corn so we could eat it at dinner last week! There were so many good hearted memories, laughs, and new things learned while shucking corn. It was sticky and muggy outside, but it didn't slow anyone down! So fun!

When RAGBRAI came through Armstrong last month some of our staff and a few of our residents jumped at the idea of riding in the golf cart to see the action on main street! We saw the goats that were performing for goat yoga, were in awe of how many people were riding their bikes through town, and some even stopped for a quick listen of The Galaxy Band that was performing at The Garage. Such a unique experience for our small town!

The City of Armstrong is known for their 4th of July celebration and this year was hot and sunny compared to the cloudy skies and rain last year! Valley Vue Care Center residents, Spring Creek Independent & Assisted Living tenants, and staff traveled up by golf carts to our parade viewing location for a picnic lunch and to watch the parade. Everyone gathered lots of candy and enjoyed their time at the parade- we are excited for next year!

Valley Vue Care Center and Spring Creek Independent & Assisted Living entered our 'Christmas in July' parade float into the 4th of July parade that the City of Armstrong celebrates each year. Our theme of 'Christmas in July' is to remind community members not to 'FREEZE' when difficult decisions come their way and instead to rely on our services to assist when and where needed! Thank you to Moveero for voting for our float as the parade award winner this year and to all staff that were involved in the parade/process of decorating!

Valley Vue Care Center residents snuggled some pretty cute puppies that CNA staff member, Madison, brought in for a morning visit- who doesn't love puppy snuggles?! Residents also participated in a fun activity that consisted of constructing their own personal pizzas topped with the options of cheese, pepperoni, and/or sausage. Residents enjoyed reminiscing of making homemade pizzas when they were younger or with their kids/grandkids and said that their pizza was delicious. Definitely on our calendar to do another time!
