Wednesday was a day for painting flower pots, enjoying a tea party, and planting pretty flowers! Residents started the day with adding some much needed color and decoration to some planter pots- turned out great! Next event was to have tea and pastries at our tea party. Cute little flower cups and plates filled with tea and apple turnovers were the perfect afternoon treat.

Of course, we had to make sure we got fresh air and our hands dirty again this week. We invited some members of a local 4H group to assist us with planting flowers in our flower pots. Some residents chimed in and gave direction for where to place the flowers, some sat back and watched, and others got their hands in the dirt to plant the flowers. Thank you 4Hers!!

Over the next couple of days, there will be some construction happening on the south-west side of Valley Vue Care Center which may lead to limited availability for parking. Please utilize parking down by door D- towards the north end of the facility, if needed. Thank you!

Valley Vue Care Center residents enjoyed the beautiful weather yesterday afternoon and either got their hands dirty planting the garden or sat back to relax and supervise. We planted yellow, red, and green peppers; cherry tomatoes, regular tomatoes, and green beans. Our maintenance supervisor, Ty, constructed a new planter box for us to use this season and it works great! Thanks Ty!! 🍅🫑🫛😎

Throughout this week we have various dress-up days planned for the residents and staff. Yesterday's theme was Hat Day - and a couple of our staff worked together on creating a picture frame to utilize throughout the week when taking pictures. 📸 👒🎩

We also had a special visit from Pastor Roesler, and then an afternoon playing Blackout Bingo. Staff were treated to an Energy Bar where they got to mix and match their favorite drinks: Red Bull, Sprite, Lemonade, and various flavors like peach, strawberry, and raspberry.

The week is off to a great start and we can't wait to keep sharing what else we have in store!

Sidney, from the Emmet County Nature Center came for her monthly visit and for this visit she brought flowers! She helped us continue with our theme of the week, 'Moments In Bloom', by showing us how to make our own pressed flower picture collages. Residents first were reminded of the various parts of a flower; each resident then dissected their flower and sorted each part according to the diagram that was in front of them. Next up, residents got to pick various petals or leaves from flowers, then carefully arrange and glue them onto their picture board. Once completed, Sidney covered the flowers to seal them in place and put together the picture frame for residents to show off as decoration in their rooms! 🌹🌷🌼

Valley Vue Care Center kicked off National Skilled Nursing Care Week and celebrated the Moms in our lives with a Mother's Day Pie Social. Family members gathered for the afternoon to enjoy each other's company, pie, ice cream, and refreshments. We hope everyone enjoyed their day and all the Mom's out there felt so much love!

Valley Vue Care Center residents spent an afternoon last week making puppy chow! Many residents were doubtful in their skill of being able to make puppy chow, but they were quickly impressed with themselves as they started getting their hands dirty. After this yummy snack was made, residents taste tested the work they had put in. So much fun and so delicious!!!
