As you may know, I, Laura J. Reagan, Lcsw-C, am the owner of BA Healing and I also host a popular trauma therapy focused podcast called Therapy Chat.

The latest episode features Michelle Chalfant, a therapist and holistic coach who authored “The Adult Chair.” Since I learned about her book I’ve recommended it to so many clients!

I love how she gently guides readers to understand where the unmet needs were in childhood, what defenses developed in adolescence to protect us, and how to lead from our adult self.

I think one of the hard parts about trying to heal childhood wounds is identifying what really is normative and healthy in terms of child development. We only know what we know, and I love how her book clearly explains what healthy development looks like to help us discover where some of the gaps may be as we work toward healing the inner child.

In this clip, Michelle talks about a necessary ingredient for setting boundaries. We have to value ourselves - we have to find our sense of self worth.
