Recently returned from an Eye missions in Guatemala. It was an amazing , fulfilling and fun trip. We served an area near the El Salvador border that was in desperate need of eye care.  Of the first 100 patients we saw on the first two days, at least 50 were blind . Most just needed cataract surgery which they will receive at no charge when the surgical team that we work with arrives in a couple of months. Of the 919 patients we saw, we referred 287 for Cataract surgery or other treatment.
 I was blessed to share this experience with my daughter, Caroline, who is a joy to travel and work with. She is so good at dispensing glasses and makes sure each and every patient can see with their new glasses.
I did this woman’s exam; Caroline gave her glasses. She was so appreciative. She circled back to my station to thank me. She thanked us and blessed us over and over and offered to bring us food! Everyone was so sweet , kind and appreciative. I am so incredibly blessed that God has led me here to do his work and we are excited to go back next year.

Leah Vail our long time Optician has decided to retire.

If you've been to Arnold EyeCare in the last 47 years, I'm sure you've had the pleasure of meeting and getting advice from Leah about your glasses.
Leah has been a dedicated Arnold Eyecare employee, and because of her exceptional patient care, has been vital to the company's success.

Leah started working for Dr. David Davidson as an assistant and optician in September 1976. In 1999, she earned her ABO certification as an optician.

Leah is most known for her kind heart, quick wit and sense of humor. Leah became a skilled optician, with a fantastic sense of style, and always made her patients look great in their new eyewear.

She was exceptional not only for her optician skills, but especially for the care she gave the patients. She treated them like they were members of her family.
Leah was always thinking about the patients and would frequently set aside a frame specifically for them. When she saw them enter the office, she immediately recognized them and told them she had set aside this unique frame just for them.
Leah’s compassion, friendliness, and concern was something she gave to each patient and was what made her so loved by many patients, and co-workers.
While we will all miss her terribly, we are so happy she is able to start her new adventure in retirement with her family.
