What is Sensory Processing? ๐คโจ
Sensory processing is how our brains take in information from the world around usโand from our own bodiesโand make sense of it so we can respond appropriately.
We use our senses every day:
๐ Sight
๐ Hearing
๐ Touch
๐ Smell
๐
Taste
๐คธ Movement (vestibular)
๐ช Body awareness (proprioception)
For some children, especially those we support in occupational therapy, sensory processing can be a little different. They may feel overwhelmed by sounds, avoid certain textures, seek lots of movement, or have trouble focusing and staying regulated.
Thatโs where OT comes in! ๐
We help children better understand and respond to sensory input so they can play, learn, and engage in daily activities with confidence.
Every child experiences the world in their own unique wayโand thatโs something to celebrate! ๐
