It is Movement Monday, and this week we are spotlighting Dance for PD! πŸ’ƒπŸ’œ

Dance for PD is a program that offers dance classes specifically designed for people living with Parkinson's disease. Founded in 2001 through a partnership between the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group, the program has grown into a worldwide community with classes available in person and online.

Dance for PD classes focus on movement, rhythm, and expression in a welcoming, joyful environment. Participants explore balance, coordination, and mobility through dance, all while connecting with others who understand the journey.

Meet our amazing Director of Operations, Emily Cabus! 🌟

She began her journey with us as a compassionate caregiver and, through her dedication and heart for serving seniors, worked her way up to become our Director of Operations. Her experience in the field helps her truly understand both our caregivers and the families we serve every day.

We’re so grateful to have her leadership at Senior Helpers of Cerritos! πŸ’™

It is Movement Monday, and today we are bringing the movement to you! πŸͺ‘πŸ’œ

For those living with Parkinson's, staying active does not always mean hitting the gym. Seated exercises are a safe, accessible way to keep the body moving, build strength, and support balance, all from the comfort of a chair.

Here are a few simple moves to try right now:
πŸ™Œ Arm Raises: Slowly lift both arms overhead and lower them back down.
🦡 Seated Leg Lifts: Extend one leg at a time and hold for a few seconds.
πŸ”„ Ankle Circles: Rotate each ankle in slow circles to keep joints loose.
🀸 Torso Twists: Gently rotate your upper body side to side.
πŸ‘ Hand Squeezes: Open and close your hands to keep grip strength up.

Always check with a doctor or physical therapist before starting a new exercise routine. And remember, every little bit counts! πŸ’ͺ

It is Movement Monday, and this week we are spotlighting Rock Steady Boxing! πŸ₯ŠπŸ’œ

Rock Steady Boxing is a nonprofit organization that offers boxing-inspired fitness programs specifically designed for people with Parkinson's disease. No punches are thrown at opponents, but participants work hard to fight back against their symptoms through non-contact boxing drills, cardio, strength training, and balance exercises.

Research has shown that intense exercise, particularly boxing, may help slow the progression of Parkinson's symptoms and improve quality of life. Rock Steady Boxing has helped thousands of people living with Parkinson's regain strength, confidence, and community.

It is Movement Monday, and this week we are diving into one of the most important questions in Parkinson's care: why does movement matter? πŸ’œπŸšΆ

For those living with Parkinson's disease, staying active is about so much more than fitness. Regular movement can help reduce stiffness, improve balance and coordination, support mental and emotional wellbeing, and make a meaningful difference in overall quality of life.

The best part? It does not have to be intense. Even gentle, intentional movement can have a real impact.
Follow along as we break it all down this Movement Monday! πŸ’ͺ
