Nursing in bed? Protect your core while you snuggle! 💕
Breastfeeding or bottle-feeding often happens in cozy spots—but those long hours in bed can stress your core and pelvic floor if you’re not careful. Here’s how to keep your body supported:

✅ Prop Up: Use a firm pillow or nursing pillow to bring baby to you—don’t hunch down.
✅ Support Your Back: Add a pillow behind your lower back to avoid strain.
✅ Engage Gently: Before lifting or changing positions, exhale and gently draw your belly in for core support.
✅ Switch Sides: Alternate sides to avoid hip and back tightness.

Your comfort matters just as much as baby’s! Want personalized tips for postpartum core and pelvic floor recovery? We can help. 💜

👉 Save this for later and share with a new mom who needs it!

💧 Hydration Hacks for Nursing & Pelvic Floor Health 💧

Nursing mamas—did you know staying hydrated supports not only your milk supply but also your pelvic floor health? 👏

When you’re dehydrated, urine becomes more concentrated, which can irritate the bladder and increase urgency or leakage. Adequate hydration = happier bladder + better pelvic floor support. 🙌

✨ Hydration Hacks:
✔️ Keep a large water bottle at your nursing station
✔️ Sip throughout the day (don’t chug and flood your bladder)
✔️ Flavor your water with fruit or herbs for variety
✔️ Pair water with snacks to remind yourself to drink

Your body, your milk supply, and your pelvic floor will thank you! 💜

✨ Breastfeeding & Bone Health ✨

Did you know that breastfeeding can temporarily affect your bone density? 🦴
Because your body gives calcium to your baby through breast milk, moms often experience a short-term dip in bone mineral density—especially in the hips and spine.

💡 The good news:

Bone density usually recovers within 6–12 months after weaning.

Gentle weight-bearing exercise, good posture, and pelvic floor–friendly strength training can support both your bones and your recovery.

Adequate calcium + vitamin D are essential for your body during this stage.

Your pelvic floor is part of your whole musculoskeletal system—so caring for your bones is caring for your core, too. 💪

🌿 If you’re breastfeeding and want guidance on safe, bone-friendly movement, pelvic floor PT can help.

✨ Does Breastfeeding Delay Your Period… and Your Healing? ✨

It’s common for your period to take a while to return while breastfeeding. This is due to higher levels of prolactin—the hormone that supports milk production—which can suppress ovulation.

But what does that mean for your healing postpartum? 🍼💜

👉 Delayed periods don’t stop your recovery, but they do influence hormones that affect your pelvic floor, joints, and energy levels.
👉 Lower estrogen during this time can contribute to vaginal dryness, pelvic floor sensitivity, and slower tissue healing.
👉 Combined with the demands of nursing, your body may feel weaker or more fatigued than expected.

The good news: Healing is still happening! Supporting your pelvic floor and core with gentle, targeted exercises can improve strength and comfort—no matter when your cycle returns.

💡 If you’re breastfeeding and wondering what’s “normal” in your recovery, pelvic floor physical therapy can help guide you.

✨ Breastfeeding, Bowel Changes & Your Pelvic Floor ✨

You’re focused on feeding your baby, but your digestion matters too! Many new moms are surprised to experience constipation in the postpartum and breastfeeding stage — and your pelvic floor plays a big role.

Here’s why it can happen:

Hormonal shifts: Breastfeeding hormones can slow digestion.

Fluid demands: Your body needs more water for milk production, leaving less for your bowels if hydration is low.

Weakened or tense pelvic floor: After birth, your pelvic floor muscles may not coordinate well, making it harder to “let go.”

Pain avoidance: If you’ve had stitches, tears, or hemorrhoids, you may be subconsciously holding tension.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help by teaching gentle release techniques, improving muscle coordination, and supporting healthy bowel habits so you can feel more comfortable — and focus on your little one.

💧 Pro tip: Stay hydrated, eat fiber-rich foods, and don’t ignore the urge to go. Your body (and pelvic floor) will thank you.

📅 If constipation is lingering or causing discomfort, we’re here to help you recover from the inside out.
