If you know you want pain control like an epidural for your upcoming labor, know that you have more options than just no epidural or an epidural right away! Many of the PT patients that I help prepare for labor think it has to be that way, and this is how I guide them on using their pain control options strategically, if that matches their goals!

If you want to learn about more of the options you have for your upcoming labor, comment BIRTH WISHES below and my fancy robot will send you a link to download my free birth wishes worksheet that you can use as a guide!

⬇️Earlier this week, I shared all of the ways I am supporting my fertility and preparing my body before my husband and I start our TTC journey.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I share this post today, because it can be so easy to forget that your partner’s health also has a big impact on fertility success and health!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re in the stage of beginning to TTC or know you will be in the near future, don’t forget to make sure your partner is on board with being proactive with his fertility as well.

⬇️ Goals that I have in mind with all of these:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ Optimizing my overall health, fertility, and egg quality. It takes about 3 months for an egg to mature, which means your healthy habits and nutrition status for the 3 months leading up to conception can have a big impact on the health of the egg that you conceive with.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2️⃣ Preparing my body to handle pregnancy well. There’s no way to insure you won’t have to deal with a lot of the pregnancy pains and symptoms that so many women face.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, I strongly believe that many of those common aches and pains can be traced back to imbalances and weaknesses that women have BEFORE pregnancy, they just don’t feel the symptoms of them until pregnancy progresses.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With that in mind, I want to address some of my mobility deficits now and go into pregnancy with good overall strength since no matter what, strength = resiliency against aches and pains.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3️⃣ And last, but not least, I’m aiming to have habits locked in well BEFORE pregnancy that I know will serve me well during pregnancy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Am I saying that I think you HAVE to do all of this to have a healthy and comfortable pregnancy? Absolutely not and I’ve seen many many women have amazingly easy pregnancies without all of this prep.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, I’m a planner and I enjoy being proactive for things when I know what to do. So I’m happy to implement these things! If that’s you too, then I hope this gives you some ideas!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stay tuned because I’ll also be sharing things my husband is doing to prepare his fertility health, which is just as important for embryo and baby’s health incase you didn’t know 🙃.

I'm thankful that I get to spend my days teaching women how to best support their bodies 🤍I'm thankful I get to support women through their pregnancies, helping them stay active and comfortable so they can enjoy their pregnancy🤍

I'm thankful I get to watch women thrive postpartum, and return to activities that they love, all while taking on their role as mom🤍

I'm thankful that more and more women are choosing to be proactive in their pelvic health and seeking care and guidance, instead of believing the lie that choosing motherhood must also mean choosing a lifetime of pelvic floor issues🤍

And I'm thankful that each person in this CPH community trusts me enough to be here and learn from me about their pelvic health🤍

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving day with your loved ones!

🤍Dr. Amanda

🧐Did you know that your physical therapist is not going to fix you?!Notice that out of all of the words on that list, "fixer" and "healer" aren't included.

That's because as a physical therapist, my goal isn't to heal or fix you - I truly don't believe and never will believe that I have that kind of power!

The goal of your physical therapist is to use their knowledge and expertise to figure out WHY you're feeling what you're feeling, help you come up with a plan to address that, and guide you and help you stay accountable to the plan.

At the end of the day, it's up to you to put in the work to heal yourself!

And I can truly say that PT patients that see the best outcomes are the ones that understand that they're the ones that have to do the hard work and are willing to stick to the plan🤍.

About Me

Welcome to The Nourished Physical Therapist! I’m so excited you are here! I’m Amanda, a Doctor of physical therapy. I was born and raised in Texas, but currently live in Denver, Colorado. After receiving my B.S. in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University in 2012, I went on to earn my Doctorate in physical therapy in 2015 from Hardin Simmons University. I am a dog mom to a mini Australian shepherd named Toby and a lover of coffee, veggies, steak, a good margarita, college football (Gig’ Em), and natural living. I’m also the director for the Denver chapter of a nonprofit organization called Just for J,Inc. Our mission is to raise funds and awareness for children facing medical challenges – check us out at Justforj.com!

I’ve lived my whole life with health struggles labeled by traditional doctors as “normal.” It wasn’t until I took matters into my own hands, that I found that the best answer is sometimes the holistic answer. My hope is that through this blog, I can combine my knowledge of physical therapy, nutrition, and natural living to show you that thriving IS possible! I want to empower you to feel energetic, passionate, and joyful in your own skin.

I am also the owner and sole therapist for Essential Wellness and Performance, LLC. EWP is a house call physical therapy practice in the Denver, CO area. I would love to chat with you and see if I am the right person to help you return to the activities that you love!
