5 things I see- 1 orange tabby cat, bricks, patio chair, grill, and patio lights.

4 things I physically feel - fleece blanket, the supportive back of my chair, a pillow underneath my calves, and my paperback book resting on my left thigh.

3 things I hear - a yellow school bus breaking at a stop sign, my partner on a business call, and birds chirping.

2 things I smell - lemon lime hydration packet in my water bottle and crispness of the breeze.

1 things I can taste - grapes.

It can be tough to accept snow in the middle of spring—especially here in Colorado. Sometimes, our nervous system actually finds it easier to stay in a negative state.

Cherophobia is the fear or aversion to happiness or joy. It can be complex and layered. If that term resonates with you, I really encourage reaching out to a mental health professional—you don’t have to navigate it alone.

One small practice that helps: notice when negative thoughts show up, and gently offer yourself a glimmer—a moment of something good.

Today, my glimmer was the quiet beauty of snow-covered trees and the stillness of the landscape. Even in unexpected moments, beauty can find us.
