With great sadness, the Jane Goodall Institute confirmed this morning the passing of the organization’s founder, Dr. Jane Goodall, age 91 who died peacefully in her sleep while in Los Angeles, CA for her speaking tour in the United States.

Dr. Goodall’s life and work not only made an indelible mark on our understanding of chimpanzees and other species, but also of humankind and the environments we all share. She inspired curiosity, hope and compassion in countless people around the world, and paved the way for many others — particularly young people who gave her hope for the future.

In 1960 Dr. Goodall established the longest running wild chimpanzee study in Gombe National Park, Tanzania which continues to this day. She pioneered and sustained the Jane Goodall Institute’s community-centered conservation initiatives across the chimpanzee range for over four decades. Her legacy includes the creation of JGI’s international environmental and humanitarian youth program Roots & Shoots, which is actively driving change in 75 countries and counting around the world.

A group from the Neptune corporate office spent an afternoon volunteering with Feeding South Florida, and helped sort 9,542 pounds of food, which will provide more than 8,000 meals for those in need.
September is Month, to raise awareness about food insecurity and mobilize communities to take action against hunger in the United States. Organizations like Feeding South Florida coordinate efforts to educate the public, encourage donations and volunteerism, and advocate for policy changes to address the root causes of hunger and poverty. We're so honored to be part of this effort.

The Neptune Denver team organized a toy drive to benefit the Children’s Hospital Colorado. Families we’ve served contributed toys and books, as did our staff. On Christmas Eve, we delivered all the goodies for the kids who were staying at CHC through the holidays, and also brought a bag of treats for the staff and nurses. The hospital’s senior vice president sent us this lovely note of thanks. But you know, we consider all of you the heroes!

Neptune Denver Service Manager Christine Cuisia and Sales Manager Lisa Healey attended the annual Senior Connection Tradeshow in Arvada, CO, where they set up a booth offering treats and swag, and raffled a basket filled with assorted goodies. They also had the opportunity to volunteer and take part in a fashion show, which contributed to a wonderful turnout.

Neptune Society Denver celebrated “Eat an Extra Dessert Day” (great idea, right?) by providing treats to local hospice facilities, assisted living communities, and the fire and police departments in Arvada.

Ms. Brown said she is grateful for the Neptune Society’s swift response and now has her husband’s ashes in a box surrounded by cards and flowers from family, neighbors and friends. A portion of the ashes were placed in a keepsake frame with a photo taken during the couple’s first year of marriage.

A Denver woman lost her husband of 44 years. Then she had her heart broken again when wasn’t cremated in time for the original service she planned.

Jody "JoAnn" Atwood lived all over the U.S., and created a life full of music. She passed peacefully in Louisville, Colorado, surrounded by music, family, and love.

"We will rejoice when we hear the cello and think of how this amazing woman resonated through all our lives," her family wrote.

It's been an honor to take Ms. Atwood into our care. Rest in peace.

Rest in Peace Bonnie.

When Bonnie wasn’t bringing new life into treasures, she loved spending time with her friends and family. She split her time between homes in Yuma, Arizona, Colorado Springs and Lochbuie, Colorado. No matter which home she was in, she was always surrounded by friends, family and her books. She leaves behind many happy memories and the love of her family who will miss her everyday.
