DSP Appreciation Week is coming to a close. We wish to thank everyone who sent in goodies, catered lunches, and even provided massages for our staff! Everyone feels appreciated and loved beyond measure. What a tremendous treat this week was! We LOVE providing care, support, and FUN LEARNING to our friends!

Here are a few more notes to finish off the week in style:

Knowing our son is in your care removes all worry every day he is there. In addition, we are so grateful for the job coaching provided by Hannah, that has given him such a wonderful opportunity. This beyond beautiful letter was written by the father of one of our beloved friends:

“Paradise in [Wheat Ridge], where love blossoms!

Dear ABC worker bees. Each of you is noticed. With a tender heart and a softened spirit, we bow to you in gratitude, appreciation, amazement, awe, respect, and so many other ineffable ways.

Each of you has a magnetic personality. You engender, exhibit, and attract warmth, love, consideration, compassion, and a giving we see, and try to emulate. As parents of one of your friends, we express astounding impressions of your giving, caring, lifting, and carrying which demonstrates what is meaningful and valuable in life’s journey.

Everyone wants friends like you, who give freely every day. We know how you, “do unto others”, and we strive to follow your examples. Your investments have eternal consequences, and provide a meaningful daily dose of joy, smiles, happiness, and even lessons that go a long way in providing a treasure-trove of happiness and joy that sprout each day.

In the last picnic ABC hosted, I was touched beyond words when I saw one of your friends who was wheeled in from a prolonged absence. One would have thought a famous star had just arrived. Each of you gathered around with overflowing smiles, hugs, and joy, expressing how wonderful it was to have her back, to see her, and embrace her spirit, skill, and friendship. Rarely have we seen such effulgent love, happiness and care. One could tell that she was a bit taken aback. Her expression was one of gratitude as she knew she was missed, deeply, and how wonderful it was to be back among “friends”.

Perhaps we are a little too tired to take the time to express our amazement and gratitude, but please KNOW we love you as much as you love our loved ones. If appropriate, I think we would all bow to you in deepest gratitude. Keep up the love and sunny work. You are going about a GREAT work, that is soft in the middle.”

It’s difficult to even find a place to start since ABC quite literally has THE BEST STAFF ANYWHERE!! It would be hard-pressed to find a better, kinder, sweeter, more capable group of people. When I tell friends and family that we found the absolute greatest day program for our son, I’m mostly saying “We found the best people for our son to hang out with every day!” We consider ourselves extremely lucky and are so very grateful to each and every member of the ABC staff.
Thank you all for making such a big difference in so many peoples’ lives. There is a reason why our son comes home every day with a big smile on his face and literally immediately upon entering the door says ‘I go to program tomorrow?’ -- it’s because of you all!!! Thank you again and again!! 😊 😊"
