During this time of heightened attention to the deeply entrenched systems of racial inequality and violence present in our society, I am offering free virtual one-session resource strengthening sessions for members of the Black Community.
Resource strengthening is an EMDR-related technique that is helpful for self-soothing, emotion regulation, stress reduction, and healthy compartmentalization of thoughts and feelings. Resource strengthening allows clients to identify inner resources, such as protective/nurturing figures or peaceful imagery, and pair them with tapping in order to strengthen the resources for future use.
Tapping (self-applied alternating right and left taps on legs or shoulders or tapping toes on the floor) is used to wake up the brain and calm the nervous system. After one introductory session, clients can use resources on their own to find peace and relief from intense thoughts, feelings, and body sensations.

Note: I will not be offering EMDR processing sessions at this time as EMDR treatment requires an established relationship with a therapist and weeks to months of therapeutic work. However, I will be offering free resource strengthening sessions using EMDR-related techniques.
