We hosted not only residents, but over 125 guests for Thanksgiving dinner this year. Chef Eduardo and the culinary team cooked a delicious traditional Thanksgiving meal. Paul has golfed on many courses throughout his life..even way out in California! Today, not only did he have the opportunity to relive his passion, but he got to do it with his son. ⛳️

On Tuesday, we honored Veterans Day with day long patriotic programs. We hosted three award ceremonies, patriotic sing alongs and a luncheon for resident and staff veterans. Thank you to retired Marine Corp Colonel McClaren for speaking at our event.

Thank you to all veterans for your service. You represent the best of us and the best of America. Thank you to the families of our military men and women who carry the weight of sacrifice. Happy Veterans Day.

To help spread awareness, show support, and honor the fighters, survivors, and those we have lost to breast cancer, Ashburn residents and staff went pink!

We held a pink petals and pearl tea party. Sharon Prior, our Resident Care Director, shared her journey as a breast cancer survivor. Leading to residents sharing their stories as well.

Breast cancer awareness is something Chef Lalo has a personal connection to. The day of Ashburn's pink out, his family member was undergoing surgery, in her fight against this disease. We could all feel the love and care he put into the delicious food he prepared.

Sharon discussed facts verses myths about breast cancer, had an open discussion where associates were able to ask questions, and demonstrated how to do a self breast exam. Waltonwood associates received information on female and male breast cancer, pink out treats, and awareness goodies.

It was a day full of education, awareness, and camaraderie!

Doris performed in productions for 25 years with the Chatham Players in New Jersey. She longed to be on stage again. The Pickwick Players were doing a 20th Anniversary Musical R***e and were thrilled to have Doris join the show. After a month of practicing and late night rehearsals, Doris put on a stellar performance of “Feed the Birds” from Mary Poppins. Friends, family and staff surprised Doris and showered her with accolades after the show. The cast and crew applauded Doris’ talents. Many said Doris was an inspiration and asked her to come back to do more shows with them. Thank you to the Pickwick Players for making Doris’ adventure come true.

Our Waltonwood residents enjoyed a delightful journey down memory lane with an in-person rendition of the classic Newlywed Game. Hosted by life enrichment associate Gabby, the Golden Anniversary Newlywed Game was a resounding success. Prior to the event, Gabby collaborated with the participating couples to prepare engaging questions and answers. On the day of the show. couples were challenged to see who truly knew their partner best. The triumphant pair walked away with a coveted Amazon gift card. The event was a joyous occasion, brimming with heartwarming stories and an abundance of laughter. It was so popular that we look forward to three more couples participating in the upcoming months.

We held a physical fitness challenge during our monthly All Staff Meeting last week. The obstacle course was entitled “Grit & Glory” and was designed by our Forever Fit Instructor, Jose.

Congratulations to Mohammad for completing the course in the fastest time and Heydi for having the best form!

Every Wednesday we have combined community programming with our assisted living residents.

Manager Desi made a special song playlist and we used lights on the drum sticks to jazz the program up for Active Aging Week.

Physical, social, and emotional community bonding all combine for this program. We even sneak in a bit of intellectual having residents count and follow drum patterns.

Residents and associates enjoy coming together for the fun!
