PRESS RELEASE

Insight Recovery Centers
awarded Gold Seal of Approval Accreditation from The Joint Commission

Ashburn, Virginia –Insight Recovery Centers has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for their Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Programs (OP) by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Insight Recovery Centers underwent a rigorous, onsite review on September 21st and 22nd, 2020. During the visit, a Joint Commission reviewer evaluated Insight’s compliance with behavioral healthcare standards spanning several areas including leadership, emergency management, infection control, performance improvement, environment of care, and treatment protocols.

In less than a year, Insight Recovery Centers earned their Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program and Outpatient Program licenses from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services as well as Joint Commission accreditation. This accreditation allows us to become leaders in our field for the quality of our program and change the view of substance use disorders to a more modern understanding.

The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyor also conducted onsite observations and interviews with clients.

“As a private accreditor, The Joint Commission surveys health care organizations to protect the public by identifying deficiencies in care and working with those organizations to correct them as quickly and sustainably as possible,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Insight Recovery Centers for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care.”

At Insight Recovery Centers, we approach substance use disorders by understanding that it occurs on a spectrum. This means drug and alcohol can vary from mild to moderate to severe. Our vision it to create the best integrated, high quality behavioral health care for adults and their support systems by experienced professionals.

Our Story

📷Cyndi Turner, LCSW, LSATP, MAC and Craig James, LCSW, LSATP, MAC were meant to meet. She grew up in New Jersey; he looked at Princeton University. A year later Craig attended George Mason University, she toured the campus. Three years later they lived in the same neighborhood. Cyndi earned her master’s degree in social work, then Craig soon after. Craig worked at a juvenile detention center; she visited her clients there. For years lived within a mile of each other.

Craig and Cyndi finally met face to face in 2001 and things just clicked. Despite being trained as clinicians, they both were business minded and had an entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2006 theydeveloped the Dual Diagnosis Recovery Program© for people struggling with both substance use disorders and mental health issues. But they were functioning in a broken system. They wanted to correct the problems that Northern Virginians were facing with a fragmented behavioral health care system. Their own neighbors faced waitlists, well-meaning but untrained providers for addiction treatment, and drove to multiple offices for services while the opiate and suicide epidemics raged in Loudoun County.

They envisioned experts who responded quickly and compassionately in one location. They put their Leesburg homes up as collateral and gathered a team of six therapists with over a hundred years' experience between them. Insight Into Action Therapy opened its door to clients on July 13, 2015 with the mission of setting the standard to which other practices would be compared.
