Mel Robbins

If you're wondering if you should take medication, this video is for you.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor. I can't tell you if medication is the right choice for you. I can tell you that taking medication is absolutely nothing to be ashamed about. Meds saved my life. I took them for 20 years to treat my anxiety and postpartum depression.

I can also tell you that there are things to explore other than medication-- under the supervision of your doctor. I've used the 5 Second Rule and other mindset work to get off my meds.

The choice to take medication or not is a personal one, and you should make it with a physician who knows you. But no matter what your choice is, there's absolutely nothing to be ashamed about ❤️

The 3rd Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Mental Health and Wellness Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, at Independence High School.

This conference will highlight presentations by mental health professionals and Loudoun County staff.

Conference sessions will provide parents and students information on anxiety, stress, resilience and information about LCPS prevention and education programs.

Three breakout sessions and a screening of the independent film “LIKE” will highlight the day. “LIKE” addresses the impact social media has on student anxiety, physical and mental stress, human connection and depression.

Dr. Edward Spector, one of a handful of clinical psychologists who specializes in the compulsive use of technology, will provide practical ideas for parents to help limit, and decrease, the influence of social media. Spector also will conduct a breakout session – “Healthy Use of Technology” – prior to the screening of “LIKE.”

The truth about #vaping- we don't know what happens when someone inhales the complicated mix of vaping oils, glycerin, flavorings and psycho-active substances like nicotine and THC. What’s worse, federal regulations don't require manufacturers to list the ingredients, so we don't even know what's in most vaping liquids.
In a recent blog, Caron's Cory Trevana explains further, “we really don’t know the long-term consequences of vaping. We’re starting to see the results very quickly of what we didn’t know, indicating these are dangerous products."

Loudoun County Sheriff's Office

Concerned about your teen's vaping, call us at (703)646-7664 to learn more about our Teen Smoking Cessation group.

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has linked vaping to 1,604 cases of a mysterious lung disease over the last six months. At least 34 people have died since the outbreak began.

Last month, in light of these recent headlines regarding a surge in vaping-related illnesses, Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman released an informational video for parents and teenagers to discuss vaping among our youth and the potential health concerns with these devices.

In Loudoun County, the LCSO begins discussing vaping devices in the D.A.R.E. America International program at both the elementary and middle school level.

Additionally, as part of the outreach campaign, forums are being held for parents in coordination with Loudoun County Public Schools’
Student Assistance Services. The forums discuss the hazards associated with vaping, as well as the public school resources available. The forums also include a technology safety component that discusses ways to keep your kids safe while they are online.

The forums are being held at the following locations in #Loudoun County:

*6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Our Story

📷Cyndi Turner, LCSW, LSATP, MAC and Craig James, LCSW, LSATP, MAC were meant to meet. She grew up in New Jersey; he looked at Princeton University. A year later Craig attended George Mason University, she toured the campus. Three years later they lived in the same neighborhood. Cyndi earned her master’s degree in social work, then Craig soon after. Craig worked at a juvenile detention center; she visited her clients there. For years lived within a mile of each other.

Craig and Cyndi finally met face to face in 2001 and things just clicked. Despite being trained as clinicians, they both were business minded and had an entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2006 theydeveloped the Dual Diagnosis Recovery Program© for people struggling with both substance use disorders and mental health issues. But they were functioning in a broken system. They wanted to correct the problems that Northern Virginians were facing with a fragmented behavioral health care system. Their own neighbors faced waitlists, well-meaning but untrained providers for addiction treatment, and drove to multiple offices for services while the opiate and suicide epidemics raged in Loudoun County.

They envisioned experts who responded quickly and compassionately in one location. They put their Leesburg homes up as collateral and gathered a team of six therapists with over a hundred years' experience between them. Insight Into Action Therapy opened its door to clients on July 13, 2015 with the mission of setting the standard to which other practices would be compared.

Insight Into Action Therapy’s mission is to set the standard by which other therapy practices are compared. Together, Cyndi and Craig wanted to correct some of the problems that Northern Virginians were facing with a fragmented behavioral health care system. Insight offers mental health and dual diagnosis treatment services within one location, making for true collaboration and case management. We have individual, family, couples, play, and group therapy, onsite drug and alcohol testing along with psychological and psychiatric evaluations and medication monitoring allowing clients to get their needs met in one place.

Your clinician is an expert. Several are published and train nationally. Our nine providers have a combined 170 years of experience, with multiple licenses and credentialing. Your treatment team is in the same location so they truly can offer collaborative care.
