Parents of Kids with Disabilities – Please Read! 💙
If you’re a parent of a child with an intellectual or developmental disability (ID/DD), there’s something important you should know about: the Medicaid ID/DD Waiver.
This waiver can help cover lots of helpful services for your child—like:
· Speech therapy 🗣️
· Occupational therapy 🖐️
· Physical therapy 🧠
· In-home help 👩‍🦽
· Respite care (a break for parents!) 💆‍♀️ …and much more, depending on your child’s needs.
👉 Step 1: Contact your local Community Services Board (CSB)—they help families like yours get connected to services. 👉 Step 2: Ask for an assessment. Even if services aren’t available right away, getting your child on the waiting list is super important.
There are a lot of resources included in this waiver that many families don’t even know exist. It might not seem important today—but it could be life-changing down the road.
✅ Start by getting your child evaluated by a doctor or specialist (like a developmental pediatrician or psychologist). ✅ Then reach out to the CSB in your area to begin the process. ✅ Ask questions! The people there can help explain what’s available for your child.
⚠️ Don’t wait until things get harder. Starting early can make a big difference later.

Here’s how the new federal bill could affect you and your family 👇
🔹 Healthcare
New work requirements for some adults on Medicaid
Stricter enrollment rules for those using healthcare marketplaces
🔹 Food Assistance
Some people will need to work to qualify for food stamps
States may have to cover more of the cost
🔹 Taxes
Most tax cuts from the last major tax law will continue
Average household sees $2,900 in annual tax savings
Higher child tax credit: $2,200 per child
Seniors get a larger deduction through 2028
Tip and overtime workers may deduct more income from taxes

Did you know? To qualify for the CCC Plus Waiver, individuals must meet both financial and functional eligibility requirements.
✅ Financial Eligibility: Only the income and assets of the person applying are considered. For children, they are counted as a household of one, meaning their parents' income usually isn't included.
✅ Functional Eligibility: This is determined through a screening done by your local Department of Health (DOH).
Both parts must be met to be approved—financial need and functional dependency.
