Not all injuries are created equal… and for Mary, ACL tears top the list. 🏥💭

Shin splints slowing you down? It’s time to train smarter, not just harder. 🦵

Incorporating targeted exercises can help reduce pain, improve strength, and prevent future flare-ups. Focus on strengthening the calves, improving ankle mobility, and building lower leg endurance to keep your stride strong and pain-free.

Consistency is key—take care of your shins now so they can carry you further later. 👣

Some injuries don’t look serious—but they can sideline an athlete fast.

For Chris, shin splints are the injury that bring the most anxiety. What starts as a little pain can quickly turn into something that impacts performance, recovery, and long-term health if it’s not addressed early.

As an athletic trainer, it’s all about catching the warning signs, managing the load, and keeping athletes on track before it becomes something more.

Because even the “small” injuries deserve big attention.

When asked which athletic training setting he loves the most, our PRN Athletic Trainer, Americus had this to say:
“My favorite AT setting to work is a tie between secondary and collegiate. What I learned working at the secondary level I brought to the collegiate setting. Building and fostering relationships and a sports medicine program is the biggest common factor.

Collegiate is a fun challenge because everyday is something different. From reshaping a sports medicine program from scratch to creating a culture where a work life balance is possible for athletic trainers in this setting with good pay and not long hours.

With the secondary setting, pouring knowledge and nurturing the adolescents as they continue to become their own person. Here is where I realized I loved being an athletic trainer because I can walk in my purpose and help those when in need beyond athletics.”
