✨ This week we are celebrating balance!

We’ve been moving through Dancer, Eagle, and Tree — three poses that remind us to stay steady, grounded, and present.

Dancer → root through your standing foot and reach forward as much as you reach back

Eagle → squeeze everything into the midline and keep your gaze steady

Tree → press into your inner thigh or calf and grow tall through the crown of your head

Balance isn’t about never wobbling. It’s about finding ease in the effort. ✨

The equinox is the moment the earth floats level between its polarities, a rare point of balance. What better time to pause, ground, and reset?

Join Laura and Maura for an immersive practice that will guide you through:
🌱 Grounding: set intentions and gentle flow
🔥 Igniting: power vinyasa to build strength and clarity
🌿 Balancing: vinyin and yin to soften and restore
💨 Integrating: 30 minutes of breathwork and savasana to release and expand

This workshop is more than a class. It is a seasonal reset. You will shed what no longer serves you, create space for what matters, and leave feeling both energized and deeply relaxed.

✨ Plank – Phalakasana
• Press firmly through palms, shoulders stacked over wrists
• Draw your belly button in toward your spine
• Keep hips level with shoulders, not sinking or lifted
👉 For more support: lower knees to the mat while keeping your core engaged
👉 To build more heat: shift into Side Plank (Vasisthasana) or try lifting one leg

✨ Boat – Navasana
• Sit tall on your sit bones, spine long and chest lifted
• Engage your core as you lift legs to hover or extend fully
• Reach arms forward, shoulders relaxed
👉 For more support: keep toes grounded or hands behind thighs
👉 To build more heat: straighten your legs, lower into Low Boat (Ardha Navasana), or add a twist

💪 These core-power poses fire up stability, focus, and strength while helping you feel grounded and energized both on and off the mat.

Please join us in welcoming Kristen to our YogaSix Asheville teaching team! 💙 She’s been part of our community since 2023, and we’re so excited she’ll be leading our Wednesday 12pm Y6 Restore class.

About Kristen:
She began her yoga journey in 2021 as a way to support her own health and healing. What started as a personal practice quickly grew into a deep appreciation for yoga as a powerful tool for both physical and mental wellbeing. She completed her yoga teacher training at Asheville Yoga Center and brings over a decade of experience as a social worker and therapist into her classes.

Her background in mental health continues to inform her approach to yoga—grounded, compassionate, and centered on creating space for self-awareness and growth. Her goal is always to offer a practice that supports students wherever they are.

When she’s not teaching or practicing yoga, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, experimenting with new recipes, digging in the garden, listening to audiobooks, and soaking up as much sunshine as possible.

🐾 Pose of the Week: Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)

A solid foundation in yoga, Downward Dog stretches the hamstrings, calves, and spine while strengthening your arms, shoulders, and core. It’s a posture that resets the whole body while being energizing and grounding all at once.

✨ Tips for Your Down Dog:
Spread your fingers wide and root through your palms
Press your heels gently toward the mat (no need to touch!) 👣
Keep a micro-bend in your knees
Relax your head and neck, letting your gaze fall between your feet🌿

🌿 September is National Yoga Month and we are overflowing with gratitude for this practice. Yoga is more than movement. It is breath, stillness, strength, compassion, and the reminder to be present in each moment. It connects us to ourselves and to one another, creating community that reaches far beyond the mat 💙

🌟 First of our Family Yoga & Mythical Adventure Series 🌟

Join us for a magical hour of movement, imagination, and myth! ✨ In this unique kids yoga class, we’ll explore the playful world of yoga through creative movement, breath work, and ancient stories from Hindu mythology.

Families will go on an interactive storytelling journey—meeting Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. As we navigate transitions like going back to school 🍎📚, we’ll call upon Ganesha for strength and guidance! Through yoga poses, songs, and games, kids will embody the spirit and teachings of these mythical heroes, learning timeless values like courage, compassion, and focus.

This class encourages emotional regulation, body awareness, creativity, and cultural appreciation—all while having lots of fun! 🧘‍♀️ No prior yoga experience needed.
