Welcome to Dr. Christi Hunt, our newest provider at MAHEC Health Center at Cullowhee!

Dr. Hunt is an ob/gyn with 25 years' experience in contraceptive counseling/ management, menopausal care, infertility treatment, laparoscopic surgery + a wide range of minor and major gynecologic surgical procedures.

She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care and is especially passionate about supporting women through all stages of their reproductive and menopausal transitions. Welcome, Dr. Hunt!

On News Day Tuesday, we're proud to share that two MAHEC providers were interviewed about the opioid crisis in the US by a Finnish reporter for a documentary that aired recently on one of Finland's major TV news networks, MTV Uutiset. https://ow.ly/yb3H50XSh8E

Dr. Blake Fagan is our Clinical Director of Substance Use Disorders; Christian Kaufman is a nurse practitioner and Clinical Director of Project CARA, our perinatal substance use disorder program for pregnant and parenting people.

Schedule your Annual Wellness Visit to create and update a personalized plan with your MAHEC provider to stay healthy. And don't forget that Well-Child Checks are important, too, to track your children's growth and development and keep their vaccines up to date.

Supporting Excellence in Graduate Medical Education

The Office of Graduate Medical Education provides support for Medical Residency and Fellowship Programs participating in graduate medical education at the Mountain Area Health Education Center. MAHEC is a participating member of the National Resident Matching Program, Dental National Matching Service, and other advanced residency and fellowship matching programs.

We are pleased to support MAHEC’s three family medicine residency programs located in Asheville, Hendersonville, and Boone, NC, and residency programs in dentistry, obstetrics and gynecology, pharmacy, psychiatry, and surgery. Our office also supports post-residency fellowships in sports medicine and hospice and palliative medicine.
