I took the End-of-Life Doula course in early 2021. I was pregnant with our first child, we had just moved across the country, and social distancing had been the norm for about a year. It was a very lonely time.

Like so many intuitive decisions I’ve made, I couldn’t quite see where it would take me, but I simply listened to an inner calling.

Nothing I’ve done this way has elicited quick results, but over years, each thread I’ve followed, each stepping stone on this path I’ve taken, has woven into the most beautiful tapestry of a life filled with meaning.

It’s not always easy, and I’m still learning as I grow, and growing as I learn. And I’m so grateful to every person who has stepped in as a guide and friend along the way. 🩵✨🌿

New “office.”

I’m grateful to say I now have the opportunity to deepen my work in death positive death care by working in the sanctuary suites at the Center for Conscious Living and Dying.

CCLD is an Omega Home, a nonprofit network that offers free end-of-life care in a residential setting in tandem with hospice.

I’m so grateful to greet the land each day, saying hi to the neighboring horse and donkey on my way in, and sometimes witnessing the hawks and black bears that wander here. The land is sacred, the work is sacred, the Guiding Spirits are present. 💓

In Norse belief, the longest night of the year marked the Reindeer Mother’s descent to retrieve Sunna, the sun goddess, and carry her back up into the sky in her antlers - the pagan predecessor to the modern day Santa Claus and his reindeer.

I hope you’ll join us for the chance to be in community, sharing a safe and inclusive space to talk about grief, death and dying. 🍂

The intent is to create a welcoming atmosphere to discuss topics that we’re often afraid to bring up, especially in the face of imminent death. 🦋

But how much more grounded and resourced we are when we can share our hopes and feelings openly, and come up with a sound plan for how to face the inevitable. 🕯️
