Gluten-free doesn’t have to mean homemade every single time.

Some days you have the time and energy to cook.
Some days you don’t and that’s where convenience foods come in 🛒

Chicken tenders.
Frozen meals.
Microwave rice.
Pre-cooked proteins.
Steam-in-bag veggies.

These aren’t failures. They’re tools. And convenience foods can absolutely fit into a balanced gluten-free dietary pattern.

Remember, there is no perfect way to eat. And even on your busiest or lowest-energy days, you still deserve to nourish your body in whatever way feels most manageable 💚

Living with Celiac Disease is already a lot. Don't make feeding yourself harder than it needs to be.

What’s your go-to gluten-free convenience meal? 👇

If you’re eating gluten-free in downtown Asheville, Strada Italiano is a spot to have on your radar 🍝

They offer a thoughtful selection of gluten-free Italian dishes, and while the menu does change (including my beloved gluten-free pizza, which sadly isn’t available right now 😭), they continue to prioritize inclusive options for gluten-free diners. I also appreciate that they openly share why having an inclusive menu matters to them that kind of transparency goes a long way.

In my latest blog post, I break down my experience, what to know before you go, and why Strada is still a great choice for gluten-free dining in Asheville.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by grocery shopping with Celiac Disease… 🙋‍♀️

You’re not overreacting.
You’re not being dramatic.
You’re managing a medical condition in the middle of a supermarket.

Reading every label.
Feeling like you’re blocking traffic in the aisle.
Walking past foods you used to enjoy.

That mix of vigilance + grief + decision fatigue? It’s real.

These feelings are common in the Celiac community and you are not alone if you feel this way 💚

With time, practice, and the right support, grocery shopping can feel more manageable.

If you’re looking for guidance and someone in your corner, I’d love to support you on your gluten-free journey. Comment TOGETHER and I’ll send details about a free 15-minute consultation call 🤝

Label reading is one of the most important and most overwhelming skills to learn when living gluten-free for health reasons 🏷️

Some of the most common mistakes I see include:
• Only checking the allergen statement
• Not recognizing all sources of gluten
• Trusting shelf tags or apps without reading the ingredient label 📱
• Assuming all oats are gluten-free 🌾

These aren’t mistakes because you’re careless, they happen because label reading takes practice and guidance (and the laws are confusing) 💚

You don’t have to figure this out alone. And it does get easier with time ✨

If you’re visiting Asheville and eating gluten-free, Nine Mile is worth knowing about 🌶️

They offer several gluten-free menu options with bold Caribbean flavors but it’s important to know that their pasta is cooked in glutinous pasta water 🥴. In my latest blog post, I share what that means for people with Celiac Disease, which non-pasta dishes I’ve personally enjoyed, and how I approach ordering there.

This spot definitely brings the heat 🔥 , so if you enjoy flavorful, spicy food, it can be a great option when dining out in Asheville with the right choices.

Living with Celiac Disease affects so much more than what is on your plate.

Food is deeply connected to culture, connection, dating, celebrations, and everyday social life. Because of that, relationships can sometimes feel more complicated to navigate when you have to think about cross contact, safe restaurants, shared kitchens, or missed traditions.

If you have ever felt left out, overwhelmed advocating for yourself, or worried about being “too much” when asking for accommodations — those feelings are valid and common in the Celiac community.

There is a learning curve when it comes to building communication skills, setting boundaries, and finding safe ways to participate in social spaces. That learning curve does not mean you are difficult — it means you are protecting your health.

The right people will want to understand and support you.

You deserve relationships where you feel safe, included, and respected.

If you feel comfortable sharing, what has been the most challenging relationship dynamic to navigate while living gluten-free?

Valentine’s Day treats can be tricky when you’re gluten-free, so I pulled together a starter list to make things easier 💗 This is by no means an extensive list.

I found 12 Valentine’s-specific products (seasonal packaging, heart shapes, and all) to help you get started with your search for gluten-free Valentine’s Day candy. The list includes a mix of chocolates, non-chocolate favorites, and options that are top 9 allergen-free, because inclusion matters.

As always, seasonal products can change, so use this as a guide and make sure to read labels on the package before purchasing. 👓

Whether you’re celebrating, skipping the holiday, or just want a safe sweet treat, you deserve options that feel accessible and enjoyable 💚

Save this post for later or share it with someone who’s navigating Valentine’s Day gluten-free.

Reading food labels for gluten can feel intimidating at first but it is a skill you can and NEED to learn.

When I pick up a packaged product, I follow the same process every time: 🛒

I look for trusted gluten-free certifications, check both the front and back of the package for gluten-free labeling (remember, this is a regulated term in the U.S.), pay extra attention to products with oats (see my blog post on oats on my blog), check the allergen label and read the ingredient list carefully if no gluten-free label is present. 🤓

More retailers are also labeling gluten-free items right on the shelf, which can be helpful but it never replaces reading the package yourself.

Label reading takes practice, and it’s okay to move slowly. Your safety always comes first.

Save this post for your next grocery trip 💚

If you’ve ever been confused by gluten-free labeling raise your hand 🙋‍♀️

The FDA just released a new proposal related to gluten labeling, and public comments are open. Since Celiac Disease isn’t a food allergy (it’s an autoimmune disease), a lot of existing laws don’t fully account for all gluten containing grains. And that matters for our health

Take a look at the FDA webpage and take a moment to leave a comment and tell how better labeling would improve your live.

Celiac Disease is not limited to one race — but long-standing myths and medical racism have shaped who is diagnosed, believed, and supported.

Black individuals with Celiac Disease are more likely to experience delayed diagnosis or dismissal of symptoms, in part due to bias in healthcare and research that has historically centered white patients. These disparities have real consequences for health, safety, and trust.

It’s always important to acknowledge these realities, challenge harmful myths, and amplify voices that are too often overlooked.

I’m committed to learning, listening, and supporting creators of color in the Celiac and gluten-free space. I encourage you to do the same.

Representation matters. Awareness matters. Equity in healthcare matters.
