Today at Givens Highland Farms, we gathered once again at the Friendship Table—a tradition born in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, when our dining team generously provided free meals and a space for connection during a challenging time.

Nearly a year later, we came together to honor that spirit of resilience, camaraderie, and care. Sharing a meal, swapping stories, and simply being present reminded us of the strength we find in each other.

Here’s to teammates, friends, and the power of community—especially when it matters most.

BINGOcize with Skyland Fire Department – Fun, Fitness, and Fall Prevention!

We’re thrilled to partner with the Skyland Fire Department to bring BINGOcize to our residents — and it’s been a hit!

BINGOcize is more than just a game — it’s an evidence-based program that combines the fun of bingo with gentle exercises designed to improve balance, strength, and mobility.

These classes are not only enjoyable but also incredibly beneficial in helping our residents reduce their risk of falls.

One of our residents recently shared a heartwarming story:
“[While visiting a restaurant] I sat in a chair I knew was too low as soon as I sat down. When it was time to leave, I had a hard time getting back up and began to panic as staff attempted to help me. After a few tries, I remembered a technique I learned in BINGOcize. I used the exercise we practiced to help me get up from the chair. Without that tip, I might still be sitting there”

Moments like these remind us why programs like
BINGOcize are so important. We appreciate our partners and want to thank Skyland Fire Department for facilitating these classes.

Every Friday, residents at our Health Care Center come together for a lively round of balloon volleyball—a tradition that brings smiles, movement, and meaningful connection.

This simple yet joyful activity helps boost cognitive wellness and encourages social interaction among residents. And yes, the laughter is just as uplifting as the game itself!

We’re proud to support wellness in all its forms—especially when it’s this much fun.

Givens Communities is proud to support Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR), a local nonprofit that delivers trusted news, as well as classical and jazz music, to Asheville, Buncombe County, and 13 surrounding counties in Western North Carolina.

BPR relies on the financial support of its listeners, people who value independent journalism and enriching cultural programming, as well as from businesses and nonprofits like Givens Communities that share its mission and values.

With the recent loss of federal funding, BPR needs your help more than ever. If you count on BPR for local news or as the region’s only source for classical and jazz music, consider becoming a sustaining member at bpr.org.
