Need help with your heating bill this winter?

Applications are now open for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) for all households.

LIEAP provides a one-time payment to your heating vendor to help cover winter heating costs.

If your household received LIEAP last year and gets SNAP benefits, your payment may have been sent automatically in November, so be sure to check your mail. There is no need to reapply if you got a notice.

Didn’t get a notice? Apply at epass.nc.gov

Applications are open through March 31, 2026, or until funds run out.

La concientización sobre los riesgos de
la gripe es mas importante que nunca, ya que en Carolina del Norte se han registrado un total de 39 muertes relacionadas con la gripe de esta temporada. Según el Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos de Carolina del Norte, y la Comision de Seguimiento y Vigilancia de Virus Respiratorios, doce de estos fallecimientos ocurrieron durante la semana del 27 de diciembre.

No hay que entrar en panico pero si mantenerse informado y seguir las recomendaciones de los organismos de salud y su medico. Si vive en Buncombe, Henderson, Jackson, Haywood or Transylvania y NO tiene medico o acceso a cuidados de salud por favor deje un mensaje de voz al (828) 273-9065 con su nombre, motivo del llamado y numero de teléfono para conectarlo con clínicas locales gratuitas
o de bajo costo . El número mencionado no
recibe mensajes de texto.

Why flu awareness is important right now

The total number of flu-related deaths in North Carolina this season has reached 39, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Respiratory Virus Monitoring and Surveillance Commission. Twelve of these deaths occurred during the week of December 27.

There is no need to panic, but it is important to stay informed and follow the recommendations of health authorities and your doctor. If you live in Buncombe, Henderson, Jackson, Haywood, or Transylvania counties and do not have a doctor or access to health care, please leave a voicemail at (828) 273-9065 with your name, reason for calling, and phone number. Text messages can not be processed.
