Join us in celebrating March's Teacher Anniversaries!

From top left: Dede Boyd (3 years)

Joshua Canter (16 years)

Kelly Gilmore (16 years)

Michael Stimack (6 years)

For years, these teachers have shown up to guide students through life expanding practices. They continue to support our studio every day, and we are so grateful for their contribution!

💕What an incredible day! ✨
This group showed up with gusto and flair! We laughed, connected, and yes… built a bolster fort. A bolster fort!! 🏰

While embracing the playful side of service, this amazing crew switched out all the bolster covers in every room in record time. Talk about teamwork in action!

Providing props like bolsters, blocks, and mats is one of the ways we keep our space accessible to everyone. Volunteerism is what makes that accessibility sustainable — and our volunteers are the heart of it all.

Thank you for your dedication, your energy, and your generous spirit of service. We are so grateful for you! 💛

🌱🌱 March brings with it a sense of renewal, momentum, & possibility.

As the days lengthen, we’re reminded that growth doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens in community. From the very beginning, our story has been shaped & supported by volunteers & commUNITY. Everywhere you look in our studio, love and care have been poured into this space through selfless service.

At the heart of our studio is seva, the practice of selfless service, and a beautiful expression of Karma Yoga: love in action. It’s found in every offering, from teaching & front desk support, to outdoor maintenance & in-studio cleaning, from bathroom attendants & Zen & Now support to community service projects. The love truly goes on & on. Each act, seen & unseen, contributes to the heart of this space.

Whether you come to the mat once a week or every day, teach, volunteer, donate, or simply hold space with your presence, your participation is what makes this studio a living, breathing community.

We feel deeply honored to share in love & service with all of our volunteers; past, present, & future.

🪻Thank you for being part of this shared practice.

Yin Yoga has quietly become one of the most powerful tools for healing in modern yoga practice.

While more “yang” styles like Vinyasa or Ashtanga focus on strengthening and working the muscles, Yin invites us to slow down—targeting the deeper connective tissues, creating space in the joints, and allowing time for the body and nervous system to truly unwind.

But Yin is so much more than long holds.

It’s a practice of deep listening, energetic balance, and nervous system healing.

In this 30-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training, led by Kelly Gilmore, you’ll explore both the science and the subtlety of the practice so you can guide yourself and others through safe, intentional, and transformative Yin sequences.

Together we’ll explore:
• the principles & philosophy of Yin Yoga
• anatomy of joints & understanding fascia
• meridians and energetic pathways
• the art of holding space in stillness
• how to skillfully sequence Yin classes

This training is designed for 200hr yoga teachers seeking continuing education, but it’s also accessible for dedicated students who want a deeper understanding of Yin as a therapeutic practice.

Dates:
April 10th, 11th, 12th, & 25th

30 CEUs through Yoga Alliance
Tiered pricing available + payment plans

If you’ve felt the quiet power of Yin and want to learn how to share it with others, this training is for you.

Celebrating Josie, our March Teacher of the Month 🌸

A tale of our sweet Josie:

Picture a warm spring day: the sun's rays are beaming down gently on dewy grass, the cheerful birds chipper candidly, and summer is promised by the bright smell on the breeze. Now imagine a person encapsulating the sensation of that warmth, and you've brought to mind our beloved friend, teacher, and Youth and Family Program Coordinator, Josie Hoban.

Josie is quick with a kind word, and always ready to giggle and be silly. She is a breath of fresh air, and her classes capture this essence of childlike joy and joie de vivre. Her youth classes allow students to explore the eight limbs of yoga in an engaging and fun way, while navigating social skills and nurturing their individuality.

Get yourself into the studio ASAP to take one of Josie's classes and find out why we all love her so much!

Tapas, known as discipline or inner heat, is the Niyama that invites us to commit fully to what we value most and to transform into our highest self through steady, conscious action.

Discipline is devotion to your deepest truth rather than fleeting moods or distractions. Each time you honor a commitment, each time you sit with discomfort instead of running from it, you build a more powerful relationship with yourself.

Discipline isn’t necessarily routine. Your truths may change. There may be different habits that better serve this truth. Treating Tapas purely as routine for routine’s sake can enable disconnection from oneself, undermining the devotion at its foundation.

🔥Tapas might look like showing up to practice when you’d rather stay home.
🔥Treating someone with love even if their behavior might give you justification to treat them with anger.
🔥Having the courage to stick to your moral integrity even if it harms you financially.
🔥Or trying again and again to hold half moon even though you keep falling out.

In Tapas, big bursts of passion are appropriate with intention, but not always sustainable over the long term.
Let your Tapas be a steady flame, not a wildfire.
Too much heat can lead to burnout or injury.
Give yourself compassion just as you do to others.
Take a restorative pose if you need to.
Coming to practice is enough.

How do you show devotion to your innermost truths?

Myth: Meditation is about clearing the mind

Fact: Meditation is not about a singular state of mind or a "doing" at all; it is a way of being

During meditation, we practice the art of cultivating mindfulness. This way of being is inherently ethical, and lends itself to many other pursuits of the mind and spirit.

There are multiple paths to the same destination; that is to say, we may practice our meditation in vastly different ways. The traditional image may be of a serene yogi cross-legged in silence, however, there are endless approaches to the same sweet place of awareness and ease. Washing the dishes, walking the dog, driving to the store, all of these seemingly mundane activities can be vehicles to a more integrated frame of mind.

The asana practice- postures, movement, controlled breath- is all to set us up to find stillness and ease, to take a journey inward and notice what lies beyond the constant movement and distraction of our modern world.

The secret is this: the true meditation is life itself 🌳
