Since 1922, the Charles George VAMC in Asheville has been improving the health of the men and women who have so proudly served our nation. Services are available to more than 100,000 veterans living in a 19-county area of Western North Carolina. The Medical Center is named in honor of Medal of Honor recipient and member of the Cherokee Nation Charles George. This page provides a forum for learning how VA provides health care, benefits, and burial and memorial services to our nation's Veterans. The purpose of this page is for VA to post and comment on questions and concerns regarding VA's mission, and to allow veterans, service members, their spouses and families the opportunity to dialogue regarding these issues. Please note this page does not exist to provide individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It is not continuously monitored and does not provide emergency services. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. If you are in emotional crisis, or are concerned about a Veteran or current service member, call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 (press "1"). On this page, the CGVAMC aims to create an open discussion and encourages helpful and useful comments regarding the applicable topics. Celebrating Coworkers!

The Eye Clinic honored Gwen Rogers, an Advanced Medical Support Assistant, with a farewell celebration marking her retirement. “I truly enjoyed working here and serving our Veterans. I’ve met amazing people and coworkers and would do it all over again,” Rogers shared. She retires after 42 years of dedicated service with the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System.

Meanwhile, the Supply Chain team celebrated their coworker, Alexandra E. Ponce—Medline Industries’ on-site representative—with a spirited dance to Taylor Swift music in her honor. Ponce recently accepted a promotion to a new position. “You will be missed—you’ve made many friends here,” said Curtis J. Clarkson, Deputy Chief Supply Chain Officer.
