This Memorial Day, and throughout Military Appreciation Month, the cafeteria inside Mission Hospital hosts a Missing Man Table, meant to remind us of the fallen, missing or imprisoned U.S. Military Service Members. 🇺🇸

Each item on the Missing Man Table represents the emotions and feelings reserved for those who did not come home. The ceremony symbolizes that they are with us, here in spirit:

• The table is round, to show our everlasting concern for our missing Service Members.

• The cloth is white, symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call to serve.

• The single red rose, displayed in a vase, reminds us of the lives of these Americans and their loved ones and friends who keep the faith while seeking answers.

• The lighted candle reflects our hope for their return, alive or dead.

• The glass is inverted, symbolizing their inability to share a toast.

• And the chair is empty, the seat that remains unclaimed at the table.

We honor these brave men and women who answered our nation’s call to serve and fought for our freedom with honor.

On Clinical Trials Day, we recognize the clinical research professionals and physicians who help advance the future of patient care at Mission Health and across our broader HCA Healthcare network.

The HCA Healthcare Research Institute is the multispecialty clinical research arm of HCA Healthcare focused on advancing therapies for patients through its affiliated network of providers and care sites. Mission Hospital currently has more than 35 active clinical trials under the HCA Healthcare Research Institute, with 25 in cardiac subspecialties, encompassing all aspects of cardiovascular care — from surgical and interventional cardiology to electrophysiology and heart failure.

Thank you to all who make this meaningful work possible and help improve more lives through clinical research.

Do you know if you’re at risk for a ? The good news is that many stroke risk factors are manageable with routine checkups, care and healthy lifestyle choices. Knowing your numbers and talking with your doctor are important first steps.

As a part of our broader HCA Healthcare network of care, we are connected to 45 comprehensive stroke centers, including one at Mission Hospital, as certified by the Joint Commission. Caregivers across our network treat more than 60,000 stroke patients each year. Through the support of HCA Healthcare and the HCA Healthcare Foundation – in collaboration with the American Heart Association’s Getting to the Heart of Stroke™ initiative – we're helping to raise awareness about the connection between heart health and stroke and providing education and resources to our communities.

If you or someone you know suffers a stroke, call 911 immediately. Before you need emergency care, know where to find an ER near you: https://bit.ly/4dGz0ka
